Did anyone here actually watch this series? Detroit never drove to the basket. They consistently shot jump shots each and every game. Of course there was a FT disparity. They also can't rotate on defense and were much more content to grab Lebron every time he tried to drive.
Lebron won't shoot 15 FTs a game against Boston since the Celtics can actually play defense and don't rely on grabbing when someone drives the lane.
MAC, i love ya, but your not telling me that lebron james, who didn't collect 5 fouls in a single game all year, is as physical as he is on both ends of the court and is magically averaging only 1.70 fouls for the year.
I simply don't believe he is nearly a foul better than the next starter in the league known for defense (not surprisingly, Kobe is second lowest in fouls called on him, but he still pulled 2.45 for the year.) you know thats not true.
Lebron plays great defense, but not a foul and a half a game of defense. With the way he plays he should be drawing 2-3 a game the way the game is called on defense, and you have to honestly admit that i would think. IT's not LBJ's fault, as me and others have argued, its not his problem the league officiates different based on the name on the back of your jersey, but it's there, and its glaring. Its a league problem, but LBJ is going to be the poster child because his foul per minute average defy s all logic based on how physical he plays (which i like about him, i have no problem with the way he plays, just that there are special rules for him).
Its retarded.
I mean, even NBA sources contributed there unease to jame's article on this. an excerpt:
MJ averaged fewer than two fouls per game only in his last two seasons, and never as few as James' current 1.72. Among some of the great perimeter players in history, at a time when substantially more perimeter contact was allowed, Larry Bird averaged about 2.5 fouls, Magic Johnson 2.26 and Jerry West and Oscar Robertson well above two per game.
