meanwhile, Pierce can get continously mugged on every trip to the basket and even on the perimeter, and he can't buy a call.
exactly,it used to be the longer a player(10yr.vet) was in the NBA,the better his chances were to get calls, not the case anymore.
now its who ever makes the NBA the most money gets the calls

It's MJs legacy to the NBA. Just ask Byron Russell.

The Detroit Pistons is a team full of players who have to breathe in order to stay alive.  Whenever somebody breathes and they are too close to LeBron, the ref calls a foul.

LeBron and the Cavs will meet their match when they go up against a team full of people who don't have to breathe.

He also only committed 5 fouls in 4 games and he averaged 40.5 minutes per game.

And you're surprised? I'm not. He's been shooting more FTs than anyone all season long.
How could anyone who follows basketball not know that Howard shot more FTs than anyone else? It wasn't even close.

You would have to live in a cave to not know that.

Howard lives down low so it's not so surprising though.  That said, he does get star treatment too.

When you are past your prime and you slow down, you aren't going to be fouled as much. What is pathetic is there are probably people upset about the fouls that Lebron draws but who were offended at the whining fans of other teams when they complained about all the fouls Pierce drew in his prime.

When Pierce was leading the league in FT attempts, were those earned? Is he the only star in the NBA who earns his attempts, while everyone else gets star treatment? I guess this is more evidence of the anti-Celtics conspiracy.

Nonsense.

Howard gets star-treatment? Also nonsense. People foul him on purpose because he's lousy at FTs.

Anybody who's well known gets treated better by the refs, it's a common place thing.  Which is fine by me as long as they're consistent.  Paul Pierce deserves more respect, and today he didn't get any from the refs.

LBJ is a physical beast and often drives to the rim which such intensity that there is almost always contact.  Given the fact that he is a superstar, he is going to get the benefit of the doubt most of the time from referees.  His game of attacking the basket translates to a lot of free throw opportunities.  I'm not saying that all the FTs are warranted but his game suggests that he is going to draw contact.

This is very true.  However, this explanation is also why the stat posted the other day about how Lebron only averages like 1.5 foul calls per game and has only had 3 on him in the past 9 games is so alarming.  I can buy that he gets to the line an insane amount of times, but the refs make it an impossible situation b/c theyll refuse to call an offensive foul on him.

This among other reason is why I'm not looking forward to a series against the Cavs. The FT disparities when they're involved just makes my head hurt.
Pistons losing today made me so sad  :'( I respected their team play a lot and I can't believe how ignobly an already bizarre season ended.

Did anyone here actually watch this series?  Detroit never drove to the basket.  They consistently shot jump shots each and every game.  Of course there was a FT disparity.  They also can't rotate on defense and were much more content to grab Lebron every time he tried to drive.

Lebron won't shoot 15 FTs a game against Boston since the Celtics can actually play defense and don't rely on grabbing when someone drives the lane.

This should be thing that has people upset.  He is the most physical player in the game.  Since he is, he needs to be averaging more then 1.25 fouls a game.  He commits atleast one offensive foul a game.  Straight ridiculous.
do it

to bad it's true in the current officiating climate.
