Simmons in 22mpg last year was basically a 5/5/5 player, which is more rpg and apg then Queta and Garza combined.  Worth a flyer on a vet minimum contract

I don't see any point in bringing in a player for 2025-26 just because he might be a little better than Queta or Garza.  The question has to be is it expected that the player can have a meaningful role on the team in 2026-27 and beyond, when the team is contending for a title again.  I don't see it with Ben Simmons.  Let a team like WAS or CHA or someone like that give him a try.
the Celtics are obviously not tanking, so they should be adding players for next year that help the team while still keeping flexibility long term.  If you aren't going to trade Brown, then you should add more useful players even if just for next year.

No need to poison the locker room.

I don't get us not topping Indy's offer for Huff, though.  He looks ideal for our team, on a long-term minimum.
I havent heard of any issues with Simmons since Philly.  I think he'd be fine, but if not he is a minimum and you cut him
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

The few snippets of Amari Williams starting at center, 36 games for Kentucky, show a skilled passer, strong rebounder, a former soccer player who gets up and down the floor, can push the ball and pass off the dribble. His interviews show a thoughtful, well spoken, hungry player.  I have high hopes for Amari.  Everyone needs to remember that Jokic was drated 41st.  Hopes for a hidden gem are there.

Huff played at Virginia. As did Carlisle who?s kept close tabs on all Tony Bennet players. He even hired Jenny Boucek, another UVa player.

I think Carlisle targeted Huff when Turner left, and I doubt any other team was trying to trade for him after he just signed a four-year deal in Memphis last year.

I think comparing him to Jokic is a wild leap of logic or faith.   I agree there is some good potential there and he has elite size.   His offensive game is not there and that is what makes Joker so dangerous.    If a guy can shoot you can play off him for the pass.   You can't do that with the Jokic, you will be able to do it with Amari, though he does a little drive threat that may surprise some.

I did not mean to compare to Jokic but was trying to point out that surprises in the 2nd round, even in the 40's, exist.  Amari's passing in the video is exceptional.  His basketball shot is that of a soccer player, awful.

I'd be thrilled with a Ryan Gomes / Leon Powe level of success for him.

I am not familiar with Amari Williams' game at all.  If I saw him play in college, I don't remember it.  But based on the analyses that are out there, good defense, good basketball IQ, very long.  Those are good ingredients for an aspiring NBA big.

Love me some Ryan Gomes, woulda been exceptional on the title team had we managed to keep him.

Almost as much as I loved Eric Williams and his brief week as super star for the Jazz

I think soccer does teach people how to spot cutters and move ball as well as good foot coordination.
