I'll admit I was slightly part of the negativity last night, but just reading the GDT as you went along you'd think the Celtics were officially eliminated after last night's game  :P

Boston should absolutely win the title at this point.  Anything less is a bad result and it isn't an overreaction to say it.  It won't mean the sky is falling or anything, but Boston needs to win the title this year.

Nah. They don't need to do anything. You want them to win. Let's not get the two confused.
I want them to win every year, but this is a year they need to win.  The door has never been more open, they have to capitalize as there may not be another chance as good as this one.

I’m gonna respectfully disagree. This is the beginning of a long run of chances to get a ring… or two. Barring serious injuries were setup for the future. Next year veteran players will themselves build us a solid bench and a chance for them to get a shot at a ring.
It’s all about ownership believing the time has come and opening the purse a bit more.
Who knows.  Maybe the Nets actually figure it out.  Maybe the Bucks have full health and are just in our way for the next 5 years.  Not to mention the teams out west or some other team comes out of nowhere.  There is absolutely no way to know.  Sure we'd all like to think this is the beginning of the window given how young Tatum and Brown still are and that as a result Boston will be a realistic contender for the next 5 years or more, but you just don't know what will happen, which is why you need to capitalize on the opportunities.

I want the Celtics to win too.

Don't you think that the rest of the league should be thinking that they need to win ASAP, as the Celtics are going to be around for a while? I'm not sure there's a team in the NBA that has a better outlook than the Celtics.
I believe all 4 teams left feel like they need to win this year because I believe all 4 teams realistically think they are the best team left.  I can't recall the last time that happened i.e. where there wasn't a team or two clearly better than the others at the conference finals stage.  Injuries opened a big window, and the teams left need to capitalize on that window.

Boston certainly appears to have a bright future with Tatum, but I also don't think at any point in his career will Tatum be the best player in the world and he may not ever be a top 3 player in the world (Giannis, Luka, Jokic, Embiid are all in their mid-20's).  So while Boston should be a contender as Tatum matures and is in his prime, I'm not sure they will ever be THE favorite, which is why they have to win when they have an opportunity like this one.
