Whether you like the proposed trade or not (most seem not to), I think the Hawks make a very logical trading partner with the Celtics.

Both teams are significantly underperforming.

John Hollinger said that the Hawks have a strong need to step up their defense, and thought that they would have great interest in Marcus Smart.

Who would you consider trading Smart to the Hawks for?

Smart for Collins.
the problem is, Collins is a lot better with a lot more value than Smart.

As I said, I think something like below is reasonable value for both teams.  I don't know if either team does it though

Brown for Collins and Reddish

If they wanted Smart also, I'd include him for Huerter and filler.

So

Brown, Smart for Collins, Reddish, Huerter, Hill

Boston then cuts Parker and Fernando

Post-Trade

PG - Schroder, Pritchard
SG - Huerter, Richardson, Langford
SF - Tatum, Reddish, Nesmith, Hill
PF - Collins, G. Williams, Hernangomez
C - Horford, R. Williams, Freedom

I think that is a more balanced team with better and more sustainable depth.

Yeah I don’t think we could get Collins for Smart. I wish we could.

I’d be inclined to deal Smart + filler for Huerter + Hunter if possible, or Reddish if not, and go for shooting and young upside. Idk if the Hawks would bite on that either though.
CelticsBlog 2005-25 Fantasy Draft Commish - OKC Thunder:
PG: SGA (24-25, MVP)
SG: Klay Thompson (14-15)
SF: Kevin Durant (13-14, MVP)
PF: Evan Mobley (24-25, DPOY)
C: Rudy Gobert (18-19, DPOY)
B: JKidd, Vince, KAT, Siakam, Bam, Rose (MVP), Danny Green

How about goosing the Collins for Smart trade a bit?

Collins for Smart and our 2022 1st (protected as much as we can get away with).

I don't think that we need to bring in another teenager unless it's someone at the very top of the draft.

Great trade for ATL the goal in the NBA is always to consolidate talent. For this reason it’s a terrible trade for Boston.

If is ever moved it needs to be for a player who can be better then Brown or at his level but a better fit then Tatum. This is why Simmons makes some sense, this is why Beal makes some sense. Trading Brown for 3 players with out going into full on tank mode just won’t work.
