Yet, while Celtics fans celebrated every half-court attempt, it would appear members of the Mavericks roster were growing frustrated. During a recent livestream with Jaylen Brown, former Celtics guard Kyrie Irving revealed that he?d considered throwing a punch at Pritchard during that series. ?We were going to halftime,? Irving said. ?I ain?t gonna lie to you, I thought about swinging. One time, just to see where he was at. I thought about swinging one time.?

Kyrie is such a tool.
If you watch the clip, I think its pretty clear hes jokingly saying those shots were so backbreaking and frustrating that they made him want to hit the guy.

Granted its Kyrie so maybe he genuinely felt Pritchard did something wrong haha.

He seemed relatively meek throughout the Finals, glad to hear he was still seething on the inside.

I hope Bassey plays well enough to earn a contract. He is the only legit center they have, barring a trade.

Around the NBA / Re: Offseason Thread

Think about how many guards there are still available in FA right now:

Westbrook
Paul
Brogdon
Lillard
Payne
Payton II
Fultz
Shamet
Joseph

Of those players, 5/8 played important minutes in the playoffs last year. The other three were not in the playoffs, and Paul was 1/3 that started for the Spurs last season. The other two were injured for a significant portion of the season.

That doesn't even begin to touch on the RFA
Grimes
Giddey
Thomas

The first way of viewing this is that the league is very deep.

But the second is that maybe the guard position in the NBA is worse than we think it is. Maybe teams are changing guards every year right now because there aren't many guards that differentiate themselves from the pact in how they affect winning.

On the flip side, you have the Magic trading two rotation players and 4 first round picks for a guard that isn't even an all-star, but that guard has been proven to affect winning.

I think it just kinda' shows where the league is at.

I don't get why this would offend anyone.  Most players wouldn't even want to take the last shot.  It is not like he was show-boating or padding his stats.

Celtics Talk / Re: Cs want to sign Damian Lillard

I see Lillard as a much cheaper version of Anfernee Simons.  Good offense, poor defense.

The difference is that if we sign Lillard, we get him at a very cheap salary, allowing us to spend more on a big man next year.  I don't think that keeping Simons long-term is a viable path if we also want to significantly upgrade the center position from Garza and Queta.

I agree with this . I?m wondering whether Simons is the better player ( only because of the unknown result of Dame?s injury.) Part of me fears we get the worst we saw of Kemba Walker after he lost his spurt.
But like you are saying he would be cheaper etc. Have you thought of any bigs good enough that you think could be possible to acquire next year?

Here's a partial list I came up with in another thread, depending upon what direction we go in the off-season:

Quote
Centers that make less than our TPE:

Zubac, Poeltl, W. Carter, Gafford, Isaac, I. Stewart

Centers that may be available for S&T:

Porzingis, John Collins, Vukevic, Nurkic, Kessler

Celtics mentally broke that Mavs team pretty much out of the gate those Finals.  They had no chance.
