Harden went to the line 14 times and is complaining he didn't get enough calls. Budenholzer's team shoots 16 more free throws than the Celtics but is complaining they didn't go to the line enough.

Dang it it's NBA Playoff basketball. It physical and tough and the refs tend to let the guys play more and call less....normally. Geesh guys, put on your big boy pants and go play basketball.

This complaining (as by Harden and Bud) is the inevitable product of when the NBA coddles its superstars 99% of the time. Harden initiates contact ALL THE TIME yet he's the one getting to the foul line. Most players could score 30 a game if they got to the line 15-20 times a game like he does. And Giannis's situation isn't much better—he's basically allowed to do what he wants. It was absolutely sublime to see Horford block Giannis THREE TIMES last night!
There are two kinds of people: those who say to God, 'Thy will be done,' and those to whom God says, 'All right, then, have it your way.'

The NBA playoff record for fewest fouls in a game is 9.

Get used to it  it's the LeBum treatment

Yes it has nothing to do with the fact that the celtics is the worst team at drawing fouls. Or that we could go in and out of paint and the Bucks couldn't have cared less. At the same time celtics were willing to give as many fouls as possible than letting easy buckets.

come again? You think that game was called fairly? There was a play where Giannis tiptoed about 6 steps with the ball in the paint and no call was made. There was a call where the distant official had to call when the baseline guy standing over the play refused to call the Bucks player hack Horford 3 times on the same play.

On top of that there was the blatantly obvious push off Giannis had on Hayward on a fast break that got no call.

Anyone remember the game against Indy where Boston got called for like 6 offensive fouls on push offs trying to get position? Giannis' push off was wildly more obvious an offensive foul than those plays against Indy but...no call.

I for one think this game was called fairly, you could even make the argument  the bucks got a slightly bad whistle. Foul numbers don't mean anything. We don't attack the paint. We take a lit if jumpers, the bucks don't foul a lot, we play very physical. Its s recipe for a foul disparity. Its who we are, and its not even a bad thing. It's the way the celtics play and it works for them, but I'm not blaming the refs for systemic issues on the celtics.

To be fair to the refs after Giannis/Bledsoe did it about 3 times each with the C's complaining they tagged Connington for a push off the second he tried it.

Yes Giannis traveled a couple of times and the refs missed it. But there were many hands involved every time he drove to the basket that weren't called. Had it been on KI you d be furious

Bucks players led with the off arm several times and the fouls were called on Boston

What does Kyrie have to do to draw a foul?

Create contact. Kyrie avoids contact like the plague. He is a master of avoiding contact and putting the ball in.
It's definitely a different philosophy than guys like Harden/LeBron/Giannis, who go looking for contact to get to the line with making the basket a secondary concern.

Considering his injury history, I think I'm ok with Kyrie taking this approach.  A guy like Brown needs to improve his FT shooting and work on getting to the line more.  He is built for it and it would take his game to another level.

We also don't receive foul calls when no one touches us like Giannis.    The old we do not attack the paint argument falls pretty flat when one sees the replays of some of these guys.   Heck, Kyrie was getting knocked down and no calls.   Giannis was not even touched on some of the fouls and he gets the call from an out of position official.  Watch some of the replays.

Stars get calls in the NBA and more often it has more to do with who the league is marketing at the time, rather than whether they attack the rim or not.

Yeah, his injury history + him being on average 50lbs lighter than the three stars Nick named makes me fine with the way he plays.

Only 2 fouls from the NBA record for fewest foul calls and some people here saying it is because we don't drive the lane.

Watch the game again. Kyrie and Hayward drive the lane all the time.

Its not simply about driving the lane.  Name a play where Hayward drive the lane and was fouled but it wasn’t called?

Anyway, mostf our guys are finesse players even when they drive.  Kyrie contorts his body to avoid contact.  Sure, he falls all the time.  But the replays almost always show him falling on his own.  Tatum fades away.  Jaylen fades away a lot too.  Morris pulls up.  Horford takes a lot of set shots.

Before the series even started we knew the disparity would be tbere.  People should not feign shock and horror when it happens.

And Giannis can draw fouls without even being touched after a travel, so explain that to me.  I 've seen plenty of fouls that do not get called on us.

I just did a few today because I work but here are some calls that were missed

around   5:29 over the back tip on Horford
around 5:37 Jaylen gets hammered and no call

Okay, so neither of those plays were fouls.  The guy going over horford made some contact, sure, but it's up to horford to actually block the dude out.  No even close to a foul.

The Jaylen play was a little closer but still not foul IMO.  Jaylen jumped straight into Lopez's body and Lopez didn't really jump into brown.  Could it have been a foul?  I suppose but then, let's pick out the dozen other times that play happens on both sides and play a four hour game.

We are one of the worst teams at drawing fouls, they are one of the best.  It would be a surprise if the calls were anywhere close to even.
