D'Angelo Russell: I’ve been through losing so much in this league, so to finally get a taste of winning and what the playoffs are going to feel like, I’m excited

Is Russell the next up and coming NBA star? He's been getting very good and much better than his past few years

It might be early to judge but he does seem better than what Ball, Ingram, or kuzma might become.

Hilarious. Traded him to get rid of Mozgov's contract and now he looks like he would've been an ideal partner for LeBron.

I don't know if D'Angelo is a future star of the league, like Curry, Kyrie, Westbrook or Lillard. But I could see him as part of that next tier of PG - the Kemba's and the Lowry's of the league
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)
SG: Joe Dumars (92-93) / Jeff Hornacek (91-92) / Jerry Stackhouse (00-01)
SF: Brandon Roy (08-09) / Walter Davis (78-79)
PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)
C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

Even better, Magic said he traded Russell because he wanted "a leader."

Because clearly, this is what leadership looks like

I didn't like Russell's game when with the Lakers (a lot of that due to him being on the Lakers) but I'm actually happy to see him turning it around on the Nets and turning that franchise around.  not too happy on how he's gone off on the C's but that franchise has suffered enough (now that the picks are all used up).  hope they do some damage to whomever they play in the first round

I do agree that seeing Russell finally start to fulfill his promise, after leaving the Lakers, is hilarious. However, I'm not so sure Magic had a choice. Didn't Russell snitch on Nick Young? You simply can't stab a teammate in the back like that, and ever be a leader on that same team. Russell pretty much wrote his ticket out of town, when he turned into a rat.

Yeah Nick Young is the heart and soul of the Laker franchise. Russell has to go.

The Lakers were trying to set themselves up to attract free agents. I feel like having a known rat, would not help any free agent pitch. I only brought up Young's name since he was part of the story. BTW, look what happened to the Lakers once all those young players thought LeBron wanted them traded for Davis. If you can't trust the players in the locker room, the team is done.

Yeah Nick Young is irrelevant to the story.  What D'Lo did to him was immature and bad for team chemistry.  I'm impressed with what he has accomplished as a Net and didn't expect it after that incident.

now that he has normal teamates.  a real to goodness coach ,  and a place to actual mature and grow into,an NBA player . He is really all,Lakers hoped , he could have helped Lebron , as could have Lopez, and Randle .

Lakers is all about names , fame , money and shortcuts to glory .

This makes their team despisable to follow ....if you believe in hard honest work and team play.

Magic Johnson has elevatedthe lakers into a more three ring circus than ever.

The Lakers do seem to be trading away their better youth or letting them go for zip. Wonder if they will have Billups regret with this one!
