Sad day if kyrie leaves us for nothing.

I still hope we go for Davis though and then sign Beverly for MLE

Beverly
Brown
Hayward
Horford
Davis

That’s still one heck of a team with its own big 3 and a tenacious backcourt

Well, I am almost 100 percent sure Kyrie is gone to a team in our division. I hope Danny puts breaks on Davis as he will never resign after hearing stories from Kyrie of how warmly some fans and the media treated him. one 3 game losing streak, one time he jogs back on D, the media and some fans will let him know their displeasure.

Wait until 2021 and hope Brown and Tatum further develop and hope fans and media don't turn on them chasing them out the door. Sure this past season was an eye opener for both of them.

We now will have another reason big free agents should think twice about joining this team as well. If we strike out in 21, welcome to mid 90s again..we fought long and hard to chase a top 10 player from helping us win some titles. Job well done and best part is we got zip in return. Not looking forward to mediocrity next few years.

I am thankful Bird never played in this social media environment. Who knows if he would have stayed a Celtics player if he had the pleasure of dealing with this intense magnifying glass.

Sorry Kyrie...some fans never got over losing IT...some fans obviously did not want you here even by losing you for nada, zip, nothing. My guess is he wins at least two more titles in our division and will haunt us for many years to come.

It would change my mind slightly but I feel the environment he was thrust into was a not a good way to start a long career in Green. He never had a chance.

I truly believe instead of rallying behind him and our team, many did the opposite and rallied against.

My guess is the exact opposite. He will Never win a title again and will have to thank Lebron by the end of his career for saving him of being perceived as the PG version of Carmelo Anthony.
A great offensive player, with no desire to play defense or teamwork, and more concerned with his flash shots and moves on offense than actually winning games. That Cavs title and shot over Curry, will save him of the Melo/Iverson comparisons.

We, on the other end, are on the verge of a Jaylen-Jason wing dinasty that will be second only to the Jordan-Pippen wing duo.

TP for a much better forecast and prediction then mine! I like Tatum and Brown a lot as well and would love to see them turn into killers!

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism

I know you are kidding, but some fans really do believe this. Jayson and Jaylen look promising, but why are they a better young duo than say: Jokic/Murray, Booker/Ayton, Young/Collins, Doncic/Porzingis, Turner/Sabonis, Fox/Bagley, Ingram/Kuzma/Ball, Simmons/Embiiid(obviously), etc. Lots of teams have nice young talent; it just depends on if they materialize into stars as some of these guys already have.

It just stinks that some people are so quick to pack Kyrie's bags while really having no legitimate contingency plan. It really will be a sad day when Kyrie signs with another team and Boston and its media/fans will only have themselves to blame.

I agree one hundred percent. I always like to put myself in the other’s position as well which is why I have come to conclusion we have lost Kyrie- unfortunately. I guess we can hope its the best acting job of Ainge and Kyrie ever but why should he stay in Boston after this past season? I wouldn't if I were him and unless Danny pulls a big miraculous group of two rabbits out his hat, cannot see him returning. Even with a bunny or two, I have come to accept Kyrie is gone. 2021 is only two years away though. I wont miss I hate Kyrie threads though..that is for sure

Time for me to start accepting that Kyrie Irving is gone. Which means no more Anthony Davis dream.

But I don't think I'm gonna feel good about Terry Rozier being the future.

Don’t be so sure. There’s rumors out there that Danny may go after AD even without a solid indication that Kyrie will stay.

If we can keep Brown in the AD trade and Hayward gets back to his Utah form, then that’s still a really good team that could compete for a championship. Assuming a trade of Tatum, Smart, picks, and filler, that would leave something like Rozier (gulp), Brown, Hayward, AD, and Horford as our starting lineup with Mook, Semi, Baynes, Theis, and whoever else we can get off of our bench.

Yeah but do you really believe Davis will stay long-term without Irving? That's the risk of losing Tatum/Smart and mortgaging our picks. Would only do the Davis deal if Irving stays and that would have Davis commit long-term to Boston.

Compare the Bruins Zedana Chara coming out to sit with and encourage his teammates during 3d period of game 4 during Finals vs St. Louis, all with a freshly broken jaw........with Kyrie Irving not even showing up at the Garden for the 2018 East Finals Game 7 vs Cleveland - and why ? What was it, he couldn't fly because he chose to have a surgery done that could have waited or was that because he had a an IV port in his arm that embarrassed him ??

Huh ? I have to think, deep down, that Horford did not care for Irving's negative effects on the team, whether on-court playing style or off-court drama. Horford has always been a total team oriented player, college and pros. And, btw, we did not get to 50 wins this season, so I don't see some big drop off. More likely an improvement.

Add a vet PLAYMAKER point guard, a knock-down shooter and an athletic big and go from there. I fully believe that our Big 3 Wings (the two J's plus Hayward) will flourish within a ball-movement, team-oriented offense. We need to get bigger and more athletic inside, so adding there and hopefully having Williams develop will strengthen our defense and rebounding. I would be very excited to see this group have a chance to gel as a unit - you would see some beautiful basketball.

Horford came here because he knew Danny was doing everything he could to build a contender and he wanted to win a championship. While Kyrie may not be everything he is looking for in the personality of a star player, he has to realize that the ceiling of this team is certainly higher with Kyrie than without. Any player like Rubio or Beverly could be signed with or without Kyrie here. Kyrie's salary cannot be replicated, never mind his play.

Getting to 50 wins isn't the goal, it's competing for a championship. I like our young players, but I am not sure why people think our young players are so much more amazing than other teams' young players. Enough so, that those teams don't make the playoffs, but ours will lead us to a ring. Acquiring top-end talent is really the only guarantee to do that and so many people want us to ditch our best player without getting a replacement.

Yes, you are correct. You need a couple of superstars to win a title. However, from where I sit, Irving proved he is not the superstar to help this particular team win a title. All those East teams that have improved have had players become unexpectantly much better this season. They also have superstars who are much more team-centered than Irving is. We have 3 All Star level players coming into their primes (J, J and Hayward) plus a strong supporting cast. Move on and keep building.

I think plan B is turning into plan A...stay young, keep Al, hope Hayward returns to form, trade for a PG. Wouldn't surprise me at all if Ainge keeps Rozier.

So another craptastic season with no hope other than wait until next year decade?

I hope not.

If we have to, waiting until 2021 while Brown and Tatum get more experienced it is not the worst thing in the world. Just give me a team that fights til the bitter end and does not put ego before team.

What makes you think Tatum is that type of player?

His rookie season makes me think he definitely has the potential. I believe he was the most adversely effected by Kyrie's ball-dominant style and off-court drama. With Irving gone, I think we see Tatum return to form and Hayward continue to improve with the ball in his hands a lot more. As far as PG, I'm in favor of bringing in a playmaker rather than rely on Rozier.

Call me crazy but I rather have Markelle Fultz than Terry Rozier starting at PG for the Boston Celtics.
