Making a prediction right here, right now. Neither Rozier, nor Morris, nor Irving, nor any Celtic will be signed & traded.

Heck, I will go farther out on that limb and will make another prediction.

Not one player in the league will be signed & traded this summer.

That's bold, but I wouldn't bet against it.  So many teams have cap space.

Lakers fans  are .....sure ....Kyrie is coming to LA if he doesn't sign on a NY team .

What i fnd absolutely funny as heck,   they have been whining and moaning for years about Stern nixing CP3 .....i ve been monitoring a site and not even ONE post about CP3 being on the trade market,   the big news NBC etc is full of it ,  but NOT even one person has suggested CP3 official banana boat buddy of their hero Bron is available .   Its like they are totally ignoring the possibility,  my god , all they have done is complain every chance he was taken from them. They are acting like CP3 is dead . But they are certain about Kyrie coming to LA every day 10,000 times a day.

The Lakers trading some random pieces for Chris Paul once they miss out on the top free agents wouldn't surprise me at all.

If the option came up,

would you trade Kyrie for Crabbe and pick 17?

Move gets Celtics something in return (nice expiring deal of 18.5 mill that can be used in season for trade) and a pick.

Move gets Brooklyn their guy and still lets them make an offer to Durant with their 38 mill in capspace left.

Irving
Harris
Levert
Durant
Allen

Smart/Wannamaker
Brown/Crabbe
tatum/Hayward
Horford/
Baynes/Williams

and lots of picks and players to shop for moving up. (14,17,20,22)

The Celts don't need yet another mid-1st in this draft.

I would ask for a future 1st, otherwise not bother.

It's an interesting proposal, though. Obviously Crabbe is way overpaid, but it is only one year. If we are definitely losing Kyrie, would it be in the Cs best interest to turn him into a one-year expiring (and a pick apparently) for contract matching purposes for a trade?

I previously wondered if a s&t where we send out Kyrie and receive a $20.1M TPE was plausible (I'm honestly surprised more teams who are signing a player away from another team don't do this as a gesture of good will), but a player would allow us more flexibility since TPEs can't be combined with salary. And, of course, BKN would probably love to clear out Crabbe for additional signings, thus the inclusion of the pick.

HUGE difference between trading for a 26-year old Chris Paul making <$15 million as opposed to a 34-year old Chris Paul who will make $38.5, $41.4 & $44.2 million the next 3 seasons.

Rox will have to find a different sucker to take on CP3.  Lakers are focused on Kyrie.

Since July 8, 2016 only Danilo Gallinari has been sign and traded and that was in early July 2017.

Not sure I am all that bold here. I don't think I am really going out on a limb with this prediction.

Hrm.  I didn't realize it had become so rare.  Seems like they really nearly eradicated the S&T in this CBA.

You're probably right, then.

In theory S&T's make sense if there are teams without cap space who are looking to make big additions.  But as you've pointed out many times there are just so many barriers.

Nope. I don't see how this benefits us. Like someone else mentioned, we already have 3 picks in the middle of the 1st round.

No, CP3 opted in to the final year of his contract to facilitate a trade.

What if all this mystery is just part of the plan?

Ainge and Irving have agreed to just let the media do their usual 'work' of spreading rumours and creating confusion whether the Celtics will be heavily after Davis. Other teams might buy it and think they have time to low-ball the Pelicans. Out of the blue there's an agreement between the Celtics and Pelicans and a couple of hours/days later Irving will announce he's resigning with the Celtics. Genius.

Just ask the question: Who benefits most from the assumption that Kyrie is leaving (to the Knicks or Lakers) and that therefore the Celtics won't give up big assets for Davis?

I don't know what's weirder, this conspiracy theory or the fact that with Kyrie Irving involved, it isn't out of the question.

That was the last summer with significant cap space around the league though.  Teams went a little spend crazy and I could absolutely see that happening again with so many teams having cap space.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

Pride month - rainbow shoes.. Maybe he is coming out of the closet? Or simply showing pride for the LGBTQ community.

Oh I have no idea, just adding it to the list of things that get dissected to death on this board. Figured the Larry Bird mention and green font would rile a few folks up.
