If the option came up,
would you trade Kyrie for Crabbe and pick 17?
Move gets Celtics something in return (nice expiring deal of 18.5 mill that can be used in season for trade) and a pick.
Move gets Brooklyn their guy and still lets them make an offer to Durant with their 38 mill in capspace left.
Irving
Harris
Levert
Durant
Allen
Smart/Wannamaker
Brown/Crabbe
tatum/Hayward
Horford/
Baynes/Williams
and lots of picks and players to shop for moving up. (14,17,20,22)
The Celts don't need yet another mid-1st in this draft.
I would ask for a future 1st, otherwise not bother.
It's an interesting proposal, though. Obviously Crabbe is way overpaid, but it is only one year. If we are definitely losing Kyrie, would it be in the Cs best interest to turn him into a one-year expiring (and a pick apparently) for contract matching purposes for a trade?
I previously wondered if a s&t where we send out Kyrie and receive a $20.1M TPE was plausible (I'm honestly surprised more teams who are signing a player away from another team don't do this as a gesture of good will), but a player would allow us more flexibility since TPEs can't be combined with salary. And, of course, BKN would probably love to clear out Crabbe for additional signings, thus the inclusion of the pick.
