Overtime. 2/3 foul shots made by Tatum.

Puzzling that Brown has not played any minutes in 2nd half.

It's not puzzling because Jaylen Brown looks lost out there.

He has no identity when he's on the court for Team USA.

It also didn't help that he kept missing FTs.

He really doesn't look lost. He may not have the feel of Middleton or Barnes yet, but he was making a lot of plays when he was out there.. He played really well in his minutes today. In fact, it was when he was in that the team got up by 15. He consistently made several good offensive plays that led to great looks for team USA.

A few times Turkey players tried to take charges on him when he physicalled his way to the basket. They were starting to get a bead on his driving.

I think it came down to Pop preferring Barnes and Middleton against Illyasova and Erden when they went small ball. Both guys have more experience and have a better feel for defending bigs.

Jaylen is already behind Tatum and the other lottery picks of 2016, like Murray and Hield, when it comes to development.

Ok? It just seems you are dogging on Jaylen now. What does that have to do with it?

When he played today, he did not look lost. He played pretty well even if the stats don't show it. His lack of minutes likely had more to do with matchups than play.

He is going to have important moments for this USA in this tournament. They will need him. He's already had important moments for the Cs. I'm glad he is with us.

Tatum came out of college highly developed, Brown did not. As for Murray and Hield, you can have Murray, I will be happy with Brown. And Hield is almost 4 whole years older than Brown. Let's see what 22 year old Brown is like when he is 27, like Hield will be in December.

Also, I don't think it's match-ups.
Barnes and Middleton all scored in double figures.
Brown missed all his FGs and only made 1 out of 3 FTs.
Clearly it's a lack of production.

Not true.

Tatum and Brown all played just 1 year of college basketball.
So why would Tatum be more highly developed when both of them played just 1 year of college basketball?

Did you watch the game? I did.  I don't think he took more than 2 shots, and one of them was with time expiring and he had to jack up a long 3. Another miss he was hacked.  Yes the foul shooting is disappointing., but Tatum missed a crucial foul shot that would have won game in regulation.  Pop just decided to not play him much today. He will probably play more next game.  He looked fine in the few minutes he played.  No one is distinguishing themselves on USA team, except Walker and, for moments, Myles Turner, although he had a crucial turnover late in game that almost caused loss.  Team USA is just not that good, and the other teams, especially those with several NBA players like Turkey and Australia, play us well. I'd be surprised if we were to win it all, I said that before the tournament started.

Murray got 34m per year.

Is Brown worth that?

If the Celts don't think Brown is worth that then when Brown is 27 years old, he'll be playing for another team.

And I'm also confused why the Celts used a lottery pick Langford when the Celts already have Jaylen.

You asking this question just shows me you have little to no grasp on talent levels or development levels for young players and that explaining it would just be a waste of my time.

Because Ainge can't stop drafting raw young wings who can't shoot but have sky high potential, and Brad Stevens needs 10 wings to not play anyone who's over 6'9 and can't shoot.

Btw about the reffing-US fans should expect the whistle to be against them. European sports iirc is very corrupt in general, and it wouldn't surprise me if referees bet against the US.

He missed them all.

If Tatum was just a mediocre FT shooter then USA would have lost because a mediocre FT shooter would just have made 1 FT.

Jaylen's FT shooting is a problem because the coach would not play Brown in crunch time because the coach would dread Brown getting fouled and going to the FT line.

It's called taking the best player available. That high in the draft you have to go BPA. The last time Ainge didn't do that on a pick this high, Kelly Olynyk became a Celtic.

Seeing all this negativity over Jaylen Brown, I predict that he will average 16-18 PPG on 50/40/75 (give or take a few percentage points) shooting next season barring Brad Stevens still putting the shortest leash possible for a rotation player on him.

I've been a fan of the Celts for more than 30 years now.

So talent levels or development levels is not new to me.

Like I said, right now Brown is nothing special.

What you're trying to sell is a 27-year old Jaylen Brown.

But the Celts will not wait for Brown 5 years from now.

It will be decision time in the summer of 2020.

Yeah it wasn't a jab at Danny, after sitting on the pick for a few days I came to see the reasoning behind it. It was certainly a jab at Brad though.

Tatum came out of college highly developed, Brown did not. As for Murray and Hield, you can have Murray, I will be happy with Brown. And Hield is almost 4 whole years older than Brown. Let's see what 22 year old Brown is like when he is 27, like Hield will be in December.

Not true.

Tatum and Brown all played just 1 year of college basketball.
So why would Tatum be more highly developed when both of them played just 1 year of college basketball?
You asking this question just shows me you have little to no grasp on talent levels or development levels for young players and that explaining it would just be a waste of my time.

A 27 year old Jaylen Brown? We're selling you a 23 year old Jaylen Brown who'll finally get the stats he should get when Brad Stevens (hopefully) gives him a leash long enough to let him spread his wings on the court.
