Yay! Hopefully the roll just looked bad and Tatum comes back in a game or two.

So that sounded like a wild ending.  They missed 4 fits down the stretch correct?  Plus Tatum injured and Brown didn’t get off the bench in the 2nd half.  Well not what we hoped, but at least it sounds like Kemba played well.

Overtime. 2/3 foul shots made by Tatum.

Puzzling that Brown has not played any minutes in 2nd half.

It's not puzzling because Jaylen Brown looks lost out there.

He has no identity when he's on the court for Team USA.

It also didn't help that he kept missing FTs.

Turkey keeps possession because unsportsmanlike foul

Unsportsmanlike foul?

In FIBA's play, fouls that are just meant to stop the clock are considered unsportsmanlike. There is no hack-a-player out of ball action, for instance.

I didn't see the play, but chalk up another good idea by FIBA.

Team USA would have lost if not for Kemba and Tatum.

USA was already down 5 points in OT.

Kemba then answered with 5 points of his own then Tatum gave USA the lead.

It's just unfortunate that Tatum got injured on the game winning play.

On the bright side, it sounds like he helped set up the game winning play.

Kind of. That's not quite the rule. You can foul to stop play. In fact, that's a FIBA specialty. But you have to make a play on the ball. You can't just wrap a guy up.

Absolutely!

Osman was at the FT line for 2 FTs.
He missed them both.
Tatum grabbed the rebound, led the fast break and made the right play by passing to an open Middleton.

Middleton gets fouled with 2.1 seconds remaining, makes both FTs and Team USA beat Turkey, but just barely, 93-92.

He really doesn't look lost. He may not have the feel of Middleton or Barnes yet, but he was making a lot of plays when he was out there.. He played really well in his minutes today. In fact, it was when he was in that the team got up by 15. He consistently made several good offensive plays that led to great looks for team USA.

A few times Turkey players tried to take charges on him when he physicalled his way to the basket. They were starting to get a bead on his driving.

I think it came down to Pop preferring Barnes and Middleton against Illyasova and Erden when they went small ball. Both guys have more experience and have a better feel for defending bigs.

So who was the other player from Turkey that missed the 2 free throws in a row before that?

Thanks for all the game description.  Tp!

Osman missed 2 FTs when USA was trailing Turkey 91-92.

Tatum finished with a double-double, 11 points and 11 rebounds.

Just wrapping a guy up and begging for a foul call, always seemed ridiculous to me. I'd rather see the defender making a play for the ball, and if he gets called for a foul, so be it. I'd like to see the NBA adopt this rule.

Jaylen is already behind Tatum and the other lottery picks of 2016, like Murray and Hield, when it comes to development.
