Has this shown up anywhere else?  Looks like Phoenix offered a protected 1st for Terry, but it doesn't say what the protection was.  I wanted to trade Terry over the summer, but depending on the protection, I don't think I would have taken the deal either at the time.  It would be hard to predict when the pick would ever convey and I was hoping for an impactful bench player in return or to package him with Sac pick to get a decent pick in the draft.

Although Rozier has regressed this season (minutes being the main culprit imo), he is Kryie insurance at the end of the day. If Kryie stays we don't need him, if he leaves and we are able to sign him to a reasonable (and tradeable in future) deal then it's a win win. We only really lose if some team throws big money at him and Kryie walks.

All I want for him at this point is a nice backup point guard. Something like a D.J. Augustine or a Satoransky.

It depends on what the protections were.

My guess is that it was the Milwaukee pick that they own. So, in all likelihood a 2020 Bucks #1.

Not a ton of value there, but better than Terry Rozier.

Exactly. PHO is all but guaranteed a Top-3 pick in this draft, so the pick wouldn't have conveyed this year. And depending on protections, it may not have conveyed in the coming few years either, and the pick probably would become devalued at the end (as 2nd rounders) since the Suns are poorly run and there doesn't seem to be hope from them honestly.

And yes, Rozier is essentially our Plan B if Kyrie leaves unless you can draft a legit PG somehow this summer (or sign one but we won't have the cap space for it).

I was praying that we would ship Terry for DJ

I'd take Shelvin Mack or Raul Neto over Terry.

Heck, I'd take Shane Larkin.

Rozier is having a horrible year.  Confidence is bottoming out and he is in a long shooting slump.

But last night, against Houston, his energy level, defense, ball deflection and ball pursuit fueled the comeback as much if not more than anyone else.

Yes, he missed the 3 foul shots but he and Jaylen were responsible for the comeback.

Give credit when it is earned.

DJ would be a nice get, but Tomas Satoransky is my role player binkie (if there is such a thing lol) in the NBA. Such an underrated role player and glue guy. Too bad he's stuck in that dumpster fire in Washington.

He's gone. Far too expensive.

In the meantime, Ainge has his backup which he needed more than another first round draft pick. He has to trade some of these picks.

If you watch last year's playoff highlights? Scary'll get his money.

We should have given up a 1st like the c's with tr for pho 1st unprotected...or clippers pick or similar type deal.

Kyrie and Scary Terry play two different positions.

Kyrie is an all-star, scoring point guard. He may or may not be the right solution for this team. On that single point opinions may vary.

While Terry is an out of control undersized shooting guard. I don't buy the Terry needs to be the starter stuff to be effective. Rozier is not insurance for the loss of Kyrie Irving. He may be a temporary patch until the point guards problem gets rectified.

What this team accomplished last year with Terry starting at PG disagrees with you.

Rozier has not found a rhythm this year but he played very well at the end of last year and as a point guard.

A 30 game sample size is pretty meaningless, especially when it's inflated by opposition that completely dropped the ball

What in the world would make you believe the Suns would give up their unprotected pick this year for just about anything, nevermind for the quite lacking package of Rozier and a mid to late first?

They wanted to send a highly protected pick for Rozier. Do you honestly think throwing in a pick at around 16-18 is going to make them not only take protections off of a pick but give up what looks to be a top 4 pick as well?

People, the NBA is not 2K18.
