At the beginning of the season I recall that the plus/minus with Brown and Hayward on the floor together was pretty bad.
But for those of us who have watched all the games this season, we can observe that the two are clearly developing very good chemistry together. I would bet that a high percentage of Brown's assisted baskets are assisted by Hayward.
They really seem to be bonding, too, just observing how often they seem to confer during game breaks, etc. It makes sense, as Hayward is more of a play maker, Brown more of a slasher, hit the open jumper and post up shooter, and Hayward is really good at maximizing Brown's strengths when he is on the floor.
As an aside, I think Paul Pierce made a great observation about Tatum last night, needing to learn how to create fouls when he drives. He is such a good foul shooter, it will increase his scoring dramatically.
All told, I am starting to move into the camp of not trading for Davis, even at the cost of letting Kyrie walk. I can see a future with Brad if we build around our young guys, maybe package some of our picks for a good play maker who can also shoot the 3 and defend (Conley?) and continue to watch the young guys develop with Hayward and Al. I don't think Brad would be able to coach a Kyrie and AD led team, and question whether he would want to.
A team build around our youth may not win many championships, but it would be a lot more fun to route for.
