Shams: Otto Porter traded to Bulls

The Wizards could have done a little better, but they managed to save $3.5M this year and like $56M over the next two years - that is a LOT of salary/tax. Also, if they decide they like either Portis or Parker, they can decide to sign a longer-term, much less expensive contract with one of them. Porter is decent, but he isn't an A-list star or anything.

My guess - the Wizards will be selling on Beal soon (probably in the summer) and begin an all-out tanking campaign before Wall returns. If Wall is playing at an all-star level, then they will have some nice young players to add to him; if not, then they have some nice young players to take over for him.

Washington makes a mistake signing Porter to that big contract and then just dump him for basically nothing. They dumped Kelly Oubre Jr. for a rental. They had to beg Wall to sign that big contract and he's always hurt. Washington is so mismanaged.

As a DC resident, I love laughing at the Wizards and their fans.  Some here are disappointed in our season, but we’re on pace to win 53 games, and could easily exceed that.  The Wizards/Bullets haven’t won 50 games since the 70s — that’s their team goal.  That’s also the last time they made it last the second round of the playoffs.  It’s an amazingly inept franchise.

I think there’s a reasonably good chance they pick up Parker’s option, because that’s just a #SoWizards move.

I remember how annoyed I was that we drafted Rozier instead of Portis.

It's a good thing that I'm not the Celtics' GM.
