All-star reserves were announced. No Celtics selected. http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/25895443/nikola-jokic-ben-simmons-highlight-first-all-star-selections

We are officially a 1 Star team with kyrie the only player making the team. Not surprising but still disappointing given our expectations heading into the season.

Bucks have two (Giannis and Middleton)

Raptors have two (kawhi and Lowry)

Sixers have two (Embiid and Simmons - and possibly butler as a 3rd if selected as a replacement for oladipo)

Boston has kyrie.

Oh well.  We can be in 3rd place in the East by the end of the week.

Guess only us and the Bucks have a legit MVP candidate then, since Kyrie’s team will finish right around where all but the Bucks do without star support, like you pointed out.

Good thing for us an MVP type guy who can carry a team alone is worth more than 2 fringe stars / Simmons types who suck against good teams.
CelticsBlog 2005-25 Fantasy Draft Commish - OKC Thunder:

SF: Kevin Durant (13-14, MVP)

Horford is far more valuable than Middleton.  There's no contest.

Since when does All-Star selection determine who counts as a star?

I'd rather have Horford than Simmons, too.

Lowry is ... fine?  He does a lot of little things but he's not a guy who can really pressure you in a playoff series.

There isn't a single team in the East that is truly loaded.

The Sixers have the most talent at the top of their roster but they have no depth at all.

The Raptors are a deep team but they only have one truly difficult to guard player.
You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.

since they started having all-stars?

Don't think that's quite how it works. Are the Warriors a 3 star team? Do Utah have no stars?

Well, then I guess this makes what Kyrie is doing leading this '1 star team' to where they currently are even more impressive.

Lowry making it this season is a joke. he has missed like 20 games and forgot how to shoot.

I hate that Simmons made it. Maybe he deserved to and maybe I need to him a five day bender to find the meaning of life. Who knows if

Everything is so subjective. Who scores more points on a horrible team by themselves Tatum or Middleton.

Even Jaylen could avg 20 PPG on the Suns Day.

Tatum could avg 25 PPG and 8 RPG when he gets traded to the Pelicans.

Middleton is a little better than Tatum right now. He also gets the nod, because of the Bucks Dominant season so far.

Who would you rather have going forward though Tatum or Middleton. I think I know the answer.

I couldn’t agree more.
I was getting worried that Kyrie is a scrub malcontent after reading through all the Kyrie-centric threads here

I'm not really surprised. With an ensemble cast such as ours it's hard for players to come up with the individual stat lines that would warrant selection to the ASG. Remember the outrage from Barkley and others when Al was selected last year averaging 13 pts and 7 rebounds? The curse of depth. It's to try and make these teams that can cause the likes of Jayson, Jaylen and Terry to play selfishly and thankfully that hasn't really happened for the most part.

Personally, I could care less as long as they make a deep playoff run and maybe get to the Finals. Plenty of time for All Star teams in the future boys, just gotta get yourself traded to somewhere where you have a 30% usage rate

Whoever the coach is better not run Kyrie to the ground in a pointless ASG.

Or Kyrie better remember to rest more than to play. He has a team to lead to a finals later this season!
