Injured guard Victor Oladipo will be replaced on the Eastern Conference All-Star reserves, with Brooklyn's D'Angelo Russell and Philadelphia's Jimmy Butler as top candidates to take Oladipo's spot.

I had Russell and Butler on the reserves anyway, so I'm curious who else is going to make it.

The NBA announced the 14 reserves for the 2019 All-Star Game on Thursday, with Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets, Ben Simmons of the Philadelphia 76ers, Nikola Vucevic of the Orlando Magic and Khris Middleton of the Milwaukee Bucks making their first appearances.

All-Star reserves are selected by the coaches.

Joining Jokic to round out the Western Conference: Russell Westbrook (eighth selection), Klay Thompson (fifth selection), Damian Lillard (fourth selection), Anthony Davis (sixth selection), LaMarcus Aldridge (seventh selection) and Karl-Anthony Towns (second selection).

Joining Simmons, Middleton and Vucevic in the Eastern Conference: Bradley Beal (second selection), Victor Oladipo (second selection), Kyle Lowry (fifth selection) and Blake Griffin (sixth selection).

I really hope it's Russell, because:

First, I love that LAL traded him for a year of Brook Lopez (and he is better than their young core 4).

Second, I don't think Philly deserves three all-stars.

Edit: Ughh, I just remembered that the #27 pick LAL received was Kyle Kuzma...still, doesn't change the fact that I want Russell to make it.

I object to Westbrook, but I understand that with his stats it's hard to keep him out. A guy like Tobias Harris should've been rewarded for his remarkable season. Selecting Thompson is also based on reputation.

Middleton is just in there to get two players from the Bucks. They might as well have selected Bledsoe, Brogdon or Lopez. Not deserving. Look at what Russell has done with Brooklyn. And of course Simmons is in, while he isn't even the 2nd best player on his team.

Vince isn't a champion, so he's not in the Wade/Dirk class.

It's actually Russell replacing Oladipo - good for him, and for the Nets, who've done an amazing job of rebuilding considering we got all their good picks for like a half-decade.

When Lebron and Giannis pick their teams, the starters will be chosen first, the reserves second and then finally Wade/Nowitzki.  I assume that Wade will end up on Lebron's team.
