NBA Can’t be liking this: NBA fines AD $50k

According to Shams Charania:

Pelicans star Anthony Davis has been fined $50,000 for his representative, Rich Paul, going on the record for trade request, violating CBA.

Hopefully the scrutiny has begun on all this crap. Hopefully the NBA, the Cs, the Pels and everyone else potentially hurt by this pursues all legal avenues to stop this undermining of competition in this league. Tampering, collusion, tortious interference of contract, etc. etc. etc.... any and all misfeasance or malfeasance should be  pursued vigorously.

Despite the $$$$ that these unholy alliances of the best players bring, it will ultimately undermine the league. They’ll have 6 mega-teams and that’s it.

Fining AD IS A GOOD SIGN.

Obviously LeBron doesn't care about the Lakers' franchise at all.

If a deal can't be made, how will all the young guys take that their own teammate tries to get them traded!

I'm sure that Rich Paul knew that AD would laugh at the 50k fine...it's not punitive by any means. He's playing for much bigger stakes.

This needs to be clarified: he is not being fined for the trade demand

He is being fined because of his agent going on ESPN Monday and making the demand on TV


The NBA's collective bargaining agreement prohibits players or their agents from publicly requesting trades


A trade demand can be made privately

Honestly there has to be a ton of upset teams about this. Pelicans, Celtics, Warriors (the vague Klay news that he could join LAL), a lot of the smaller market teams, etc.

Also, you have Popovich telling Demps not to trade him to the Lakers, not to "cave in".

a fixed cap with no exceptions could fix this .  You can t go a penny over ....no fines .....you just can't exceed the cap PERIOD .  No luxury taxes .

They should've stripped the Lakers' draft pick or Rich Paul's rights instead of fining Davis.

Pop one of the realists and classics. Definitely do not trade Davis to the Lakers. First of all, both teams are Western Conference foes. Secondly, stop building superteams in the West. Lastly, trade him to the East.
