So many emotions...   I made this video to sum it up:  https://youtu.be/JjJpk0tMCpQ

I know what needs to be done, but my heart isn't ready for it yet.  I plan on watching this video on loop until this whole ordeal is over with.

Another masterpiece.

I'd take Big Al and Rozier's faces off of it, though - and add some draft picks.

Also - is it just ME, or is anyone else getting a similar feeling with AD as to when THIS dude came to town?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T6TnilbMphA

I'll say this - The Boston Celtics are AD's "BEST OPPORTUNITY at winning one of those rings......"

I feel excited. Boston is best placed to land AD.

And I love AD. Rate him as most talented player in the league for several years now.

I'm almost certain that he'll end up with the Fakers, but oh well. S**t happens.

Last year we were 1 win away from the Finals without Kyrie-Hayward-Theis. No matter what happens with AD, the C's are gonna be fine.

Mostly the whole thing makes me want to tune out.  I'm so tired of hearing about the Lakers, and the thought of them getting AD to add to LeBron after being so poorly run for so long makes me feel dejected and disgusted.

The notion that the Celts might get to trade for AD is cool and all, but that won't happen till July at the earliest.  It will also mean gutting the team of the young players we've invested in emotionally.

Generally, I've got a lot of fatigue with regard to the star players constantly changing teams, trying to get traded, trying to form super teams.

My preference would be for the Warriors to finally get broken up this summer and more of the talent gets distributed throughout the league, especially out East.

The NBA is more fun when both conferences have multiple serious contenders and there isn't a single team that has considerably more talent than every other team.  I'd like it if there weren't a single team that had multiple MVP caliber players.
You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.

pho, I honestly feel like this trade stuff hovering over everything (especially if we get past the trade dreadline without him being moved to the lakers)... kinda ruins the entire season from both a fan and a lockerroom standpoint.  I just think it’s going to be really hard to embrace a bunch of sitting ducks (avoid buying any player specific merch) and it’s going to be really hard for the kids on this team to lock in and embrace Celtic pride when their mind is on getting through this season and earning a big contract once they have a bigger role on the pelicans.  I’m being dramatic I guess, but it kinda puts a damper on the remainder of this season for me.  And I really love the idea of watching Tatum develop.  He’s our best prospect arguably since Larry bird (higher ceiling than pierce)... I love watching home grown talent reach their potential.  I get we’d have to move him for Davis I guess ... but I don’t like it.   I don’t like it.  But I guess like the video says ... if you love somebody set them free.

I have no problem with teams drafting and developing multiple MVP caliber players.  Or trading real assets to acquire them. But doing what Durant did should not be allowed. It's 100x worse than the Derrick Rose trade rule.

So players shouldn't be allowed to choose to play wherever they want? Should they simply just, "shut up and do as they're told"?

All the players have to pile on to the CA teams .  Their agents want it,  the TV and Corporate sponsors want it .  The millions of trash in CA want it ....CNBA ....California National Basketball League .  I say let them have it and all the rest of that place .

Just let Kyrie go too.  He should be playing with the best , they all want tolive an dplay in the same state. The EC can form another league and have our own playoffs .

So.....just let them have it and other 200 million of us will find something else to do more constructive with our money and time.

So players shouldn't be allowed to choose to play wherever they want? Should they simply just, "shut up and do as they're told"?

Look, the players should be allowed to self-determine to a large extent.

But, they also get paid a ton of money to do one thing first and foremost -- entertain.

The NBA is an entertainment league.

We can disagree on what is the most entertaining version of the NBA.

To me, what is most entertaining is when there is a good spread of talent around the NBA and there are not multiple elite players on just a couple of teams.

We can also argue philosophy and player freedom, etc etc.  But personally I'd like the league structured in a way that is most likely to achieve an entertaining product.

For me, that would be an NBA with a sizable upper tier of talented teams that all have a reasonable argument for becoming the best in any given season.

When one or two teams have multiple MVP talents not to mention supporting All-Star talents, then it makes me feel as if the rest of the league is kind of just playing exhibition matches.

Another big aspect of what makes the NBA entertaining to me is thinking about, talking about, listening to analysis of how teams choose to acquire, develop, grow, and coordinate the talent on their roster.

When players and agents get together behind the scenes so they can all team up on one or two teams in glamor locations, it sort of undermines the entire notion that any given NBA franchise can create a great team if they just make smart strategic choices and hire coaches with good ideas and ability to motivate.

That kind of ruins a lot of my enjoyment of the NBA, too.

your right ... this pretty much kills basketball in the NBA ....if you live anywhere outside of CA.   Players , fans all, over tye world now have no hope of any team ever being good enough to beat CA teams ....thats where all the bestbplayers pile up.

It was close to this with Dwight Howard and CP3 ....lucky Stern stopped it .  But here we are again .....Lakers pulling the same pile chit on the NBA again .  MONEY MONEY MONEY .

Just let CA cities have their own league .  The other 49 states and rest of the world can have our own league .

I think the NBA needs to disolve and reorganize without CA cities.

But I think this is essentially what the NBA wants.

They want to make as much money as possible, so they keep pushing for expansion into more and more cities, thus creating more fan bases, while at the same time recognizing that no one's ever gonna be able to build anything sustainably great in Memphis or Sacramento or New Orleans, so the league also enables the formation of superteams. Plus, having, for example, a New Orleans vs. Milwaukee NBA Finals would be horrible for ratings ... but having teams in New Orleans and Milwaukee is perfectly fine.

The league is talking out of both sides of its mouth when it comes to this stuff, and is perfectly content with all of these essentially exhibition matches.

I have no problem with AD going to the Lakers or Celtics as long as the Pelicans are greatly compensated.  But doing what Durant or even Hayward did...seems bad for league business. Maybe they need to have a free agent compensation rule.

*this would only be the situation if the current team is willing to give you the max or super max and free agent declines.
