Pelicans official statement firing shots at rich paul?

https://mobile.twitter.com/MasonGinsberg/status/1090002860362919936

"Although we are disappointed in this decision, our organizations top priority is to bring an NBA championship to our city and build our team for long  term success. Relative to specific talks of a trade, we will do this on our timeline. one that makes sense for our team and it will not be dictated by those outside our organization. We have also requested the league to strictly enforce tampering rules associated with this transaction. "

My thoughts : rich paul is trying to force a deal  with LA by making the demand public today. NO clearly says it occured privately during the weekend. Now NO is threatening Paul with tampering report and publicly calling him out that they won't be bullied

I sure hope it is directed at that sneaky agent.

Yes. All of these stories, all of this timing, is Rich Paul trying to get the Pelicans to make a deal right now, while the Lakers have limited competition to drive up the price, or outbid them.

So that essentially means Boston is still alive in the Davis sweepstakes despite the Haynes rumor about "Davis having no desire playing in Boston" ? Still can't wrap my head around the "growing belief Kyrie won't re-sign in Boston" rumor too

It means not much, just that they're signaling "we won't rush into a deal and don't lowball us in the next 10 days ya jerks". Part of that is we can't be involved before then, but it's mostly them trying to posture about being in control of what happens to Davis.

Players like AD don't come around everyday. If you have to move on from a guy like that, you get one shot at it. Screw that up, you could screw up the trajectory of your franchise for years.  As far as New Orleans is concerned, all 29 other teams are still involved.  Everyone who wants to make a pitch, gets to make a pitch.

Simmons, Tatum, and Zion are all better pieces than anything the Lakers have to offer.

So, yes, as far as Dell Demps is concerned, these stories and rumors and, Rich Paul, can go f* themselves.

Espn sports center, based in LA, has reported the statement but removed the most important part from the statement: https://twitter.com/sportscenter/status/1090007291594706945?s=21

Thanks for posting.

I'm more confident than ever that BOS is in the driver's seat with all of this.

Now if we can just tamp down these "Kyrie" rumors........

Rich Paul should be warned by Mr. Silver if he's tampering.

How much influence do you think LeBron has on AD in all this? That's how I ultimately think it ends up. Kyrie fits AD's timeline much more than LeBron does.

I think this is a huge factor for AD (or should be), but it’s not his choice (ref: Kawhi to TOR)

You gotta think the 10 year age gap, being out West and the likely need to gut the Lakers roster for a trade to be done would come into consideration. That Lakers team would have a very slim chance of winning it all, whereas if he came here he could easily contend for ring after ring
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)
SG: Joe Dumars (92-93) / Jeff Hornacek (91-92) / Jerry Stackhouse (00-01)
SF: Brandon Roy (08-09) / Walter Davis (78-79)
PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)
C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

After trading for AD, the Lakers should have cap space to get another Max star player (e.g. Kawhi).  AD has probably been sold on being part of the next big 3.  When Lebron retires, they'd just get another 3rd star and keep on rolling.

I have NO idea how you can make the statement that the Celts are in the driver's seat.  There is a chance, for now, but driver's seat goes way overboard.

Let's hope that given the Kyrie disenchantment rumor today and Bron Bron's real cute REWIND tweet to Kyrie, that Kyrie is not that third star.
