Not seeing this discussed enough

One wrinkle in any Davis deal is the 15 percent trade bonus in his contract. The Pelicans would be responsible for an extra $4.1 million payment to Davis if he's dealt in July. The trade bonus would be negligible if he's traded this season, but to date, the Pelicans are adamant they have no intention of moving him this campaign.

"There's no way they're paying that trade kicker," a Western Conference executive said. "None."

That's where Paul has a potential trump card in leverage, which is something like, "We'll only waive the bonus if you trade Davis to the Lakers."

That's assuming Davis doesn't want to join the Celtics. He might. And Boston can send up to approximately $5.6 million in cash to offset any issue the Pelicans might have. New Orleans can net roughly $1.5 million from a Boston deal with the kicker paid, but the Lakers can send $5.6 million with Davis waiving the bonus, yielding an extra $4.1 million to the Pelicans.

Continuing with the assumption that a Davis trade waits until July, Los Angeles would have the means to compensate Davis for waiving his trade bonus by renegotiating his salary. If so, the team could set aside $5.6 million in cap space for Davis for six months (which could be difficult to do through January), raising him to roughly $32.7 million for the 2019-20 campaign with an extension adding up to four additional years at $157 million.

Reports are that in order for the Lakers to sign AD he has to waive his 15% trade kicker so they can sign another max FA next year. This is because they are stretching Deng's contract.

Waive the 15% , plus Cali tax....geez. He doesn't have to waive it in Boston. 😏🤷🏾‍♂️

Can anyone confirm?

Sure, NO - go ahead and be tempted by The Lakers' unproven talent.

Pass on the draft picks and the Playoff experience of our youth.

No.  Summer only unless kyrie included.  AD has a home in LA and has that Weasley rich Paul as an agent.  AD is headed to LA  and most likely so is Kyrie this summer.  Time to hold our chips and try to win with teamwork.  I say we get IT back.

Where's the evidence that Kyrie is heading to LA? Because he called LeBum and said sorry, I want to play second (third) fiddle to you and AD please take me back?

Where do these rumors come from  ???

The most recent apologies Kyrie made to LeBron, and then LeBron making a "REWIND" mix or whatever directed at Kyrie. Guess it was a done deal  ::)

Lol this thread...

Half the league have homes in LA, where better to spend your summers?

As for LeBron and Kyrie, LeBron is well known for reaching out to reconcile, its either his marketing strat or who he is as a human being, nothing to do with reunions

I don't see how a few million bucks makes that much of a difference to New Orleans.  Tatum is better than Ingram, period.  The kicker cost will be forgotten in time.

I think NOP should go after Zion, wait for the lottery and try and trade with whoever get the 1st pick.
Might also be worth it to see if Dallas would do Luka for AD. but Dallas probably says no.

Kyrie has a better chance to join the Knicks, with Butler joining him

I doubt he wants to play with yap yap yap Lewhiner James

Danny should approach Irving/Agent and get a feel of their commitment level

If they have changed their stance from that whole "I plan to resign" ... then pick up the phone and see

what teams will offer.   Either way/distractions....Irving has to play well in order to maximize on his next contract

IF the Celts win it all,  than he stays

In general Celts should be able to get a very good return for Irving.  For example to the Knicks for a few firsts and Knox and Frank N.   or clippers for a couple of 1sts Shai Alexandre abd Jerome Robinson

You are trolling right? Those are good returns? Might as well trade him for Fultz and a second rounder
