A bigger issue may be the Pelicans not surviving in New Orleans.  Why would anyone want to pay money to watch them once Davis leaves?  They don't exactly draw well now.

Pelicans fans even say he is garbage and would much rather prefer the Celtics' deal.

Don't be surprised if Dell Demps gets fired before he can pull the trigger. Just having Davis ask for a trade makes Demps a failure. I think that NO needs to go in a new direction, and you'd like your new people to be in charge of this major negotiation, otherwise there will always be a cloud above the organization that "we didn't get what we wanted."

Rich Paul and LeBron are taking advantage of the Celtics' problem- the Rose Rule. They know Ainge won't unload Kyrie for Davis. They are going for the kill right now. Very cunning and adept.

If it were any other team or player than LeBron, Paul would not have tipped his hand today. Paul is working in step with the Lakers to make sure Davis gets there. It is collusion at its finest.

It is not collusion in any way, shape, or form. It isn’t illegal nor a secret to let a team know you won’t resign and want to play elsewhere. Free agents can choose where they want to play whether some of you like it or not. NO doesn’t have to trade AD. They can keep him until his contract runs out. Then Davis can leave and go to LA on his own.
