We have to begin thinking about this scenario as its very possible Davis goes to LA. What's plan B? We might have a log jam with the draft picks. I can also see ainge trading some 2 picks for a vet or maybe stashing 1. Or maybe we just reload through the draft rather than resigning rozier/morris

Is meeting with Klay Thompson during free agency an option at all?

Teams on the EC would be playing to make an appearence in the finals to get stomped for,the next ten years .

Make a team to compete , would have to take every superstar off every team in the EC put them on the same team.   Still would not win with injuries out West .

Kawhi will leave the Raptors 100 % for LA

EC comference becomes a G league .

Do you think Kawhi joins the Lakers too?  Or clippers?

I still think there's a chance klay goes to LA too

Plan B (same as Plan A): Roll with this deep, talented roster and make a run at the Finals. Be prepared with a long list of assets if and when a generational talent becomes available. Don't pull silly reactionary trades out of panic.

Plan B is probably re-sign Kyrie, keep Tatum, try to sign Horford to a new deal w/ less annual value, and look into trading Jaylen + picks for a better #2 scorer.

Bradley Beal?

It will probably be a few years before another elite talent becomes available (e.g. Karl Towns).  Perhaps Kristaps Porzingis will be on the block in a year or two.

towns is a turnstile on defense though. Definitely step below davis

Any chance we try to meet with klay thompson during free agency? A kyrie/klay backcourt should be very intriguing to klay even if he prefers Steph or LA

Trouble is Klay will be likely get a max deal, so how are we going to put together the contracts to entice the Warriors to do a sign+trade?

I like Klay but I wouldn't trade Horford and Smart for him.

Plan B is to draft 3 more young players in this draft and try to figure out how to win with a bunch of youngsters.

Maybe package the picks and move up

Trade for a vet

Slim picking out there IMO.

I think this totally ruins the season in the short-term.  It's not good news for anyone in that lockerroom trying to build chemistry.  It turns everyone on the Celtics into sitting ducks - especially if we get past the trade deadline and he hasn't been moved to the Lakers.  That REALLY signals that Davis to Boston is being discussed.

It would be a massive kick in the balls if Davis got moved to the Lakers, but the silver lining would be that everyone currently on the Celtic roster would know they are kinda stuck here... a guy like Jaylen Brown couldn't be just dreaming of getting through this season and earning a big contract on the Pelicans... instead, he'd be forced to lock in and try to make it work in Boston.  It might actually help the team rally around one another and make a playoff push.

So I understand the Rose rule fully and the fact that Davis and Kyrie cannot have these rookie extension deals at the same time on the same team.  However, is it possible to extend Kyrie now and somehow still sign him to what he wants?  He didn't sign an extension last summer since it'd be a much smaller amount than a full max this coming summer but can we buy him out and resign a max deal now, or something along those lines?  This way we can get Kyrie off of his current contract and be able to bring Davis in pre deadline.

Just grasping at straws here.

Well the only pick they can really hold off on is the Memphis pick. Otherwise they are making three picks in the first round in April if they do not deal them.

Boston would then begin the collection of three more young guys to go with Tatum, Williams, Smart, Kyrie, Hayward and Brown. Would have Al one more year at least.

Could see them resigning Mook this offseason. Am sure some of the fat on the bench would have to be trimmed to make room for the new players...Yabu, Semi, Wannamaker.

IMO Rozier would be gone because of Boston not matching the RFA deal. So I think the Cs def. draft a PG somewhere with those picks.

One thing is for sure...NO controls the Cs future. Trade Davis to LA now and Boston has to go down the other path. If they wait, Boston goes all in for him.

Plan B: Stay the course.  This team, as is, is set up to contend for the next 5 to 7 years. Why mess that up?
