Ugh just what I feared. This sucks  :(

It also gives the impression that maybe AD isn't really high on coming to Boston, and if that's the case then Ainge isn't dealing Tatum and others + picks for what would be a pure rental (I could care less if it just maximizes our chances of winning it all for 1 season and that's that). That's the other issue here, would AD be willing to re-sign here after a hypothetical trade IF traded here over the summer. LA may have the advantage in that aspect too.

That said, it's not just the Lakers, but maybe a team like the Sixers (offering Simmons) or Wizards (offering Beal) enter the mix between now and the deadline.

I would definitely offer up Simmons, Fultz and Chandler if I were Philly.

I was actually happy with the news.  Davis is the best player to hit the market in his prime in generations.

Horrible timing though. Wish it was announced like the day after the trade deadline lol.

They have 10 days to get a deal done. Unless NO wants to completely divorce themselves from this situation to the highest offer NOW, I don't see them pulling the trigger until the offseason. I figure that they're going to want to talk to Davis first, and Lakers will lowball them since Boston is out.

There’s no way any Celtics fan could be happy with this announcement before the deadline (unless you don’t want him here). We now have to hold our breath until February 7th 3:00PM.

And what do you mean hit the market? He’s just like every other player after January 15, available to be traded. Today really didn’t change a thing, he was always tradeable.

LeBron in 2010 and Durant in 2016 were the biggest guys to hit the actual market.

The timing is fine if there isnt a good enough offer they can keep him till offseason or even till next deadline. It's not like he is going to sit out like Butler or Leonard

Kawhi was injured. Toronto sits him on back to backs, he missed 4 gms recently. Butler is the other story.

But most importantly, yes, it's our hope that NOLA won't be satisfied with other offers till the deadline.

If AF prefered the Lakers, it would have been part of the news cycle from the beginning like it was with Kawhi. It isn't.

Seems like he's neutral. The only note attached to the trade request was send me to a championship caliber team... Do the 10 seed Lakers sound like that

yeah .... me too...this just sound too suspicious to me .  Like its a planned move by agents to move him to LA.

If thats so......then there was no way any other team was going to be in the talks to begin with.

Durrant knew he was going to GS .

I think Davis and NO have come to an agreement ,  he wants LA , if Lakers give up a certain package that NO wants ...a specific pkg .  So Davis and NO certainly have a mutual agreement ,  with Lakers in background .  As nobody else can even be in the game now .  So a specific package has to be already worked out .

Unlike most people here I think they want Hart .. NOT Ball.   Kuzma , and Ingram or Ivanca and likely any 1 st s Lakers have available.

Lakers will part with Ball....its Hart they really want i think more then any of of,their you g players . He is their Marcus Smart .

if it was truly a move for LA, wouldn't that be part of the trade demand like leonard

Lakers wanted this to go down late in the deadline .  So .....all the pushback from fans and teams doesn't have time to swell up and  pressure the NBA to allow the WC teams to play all the championship basket ball in one state for the next 10 ten years.   Thats what will happen IMO.  Its good for CA ...but not the rest of the NBA .   It will kill ball on the EC.

Lakers are trying to avoid pushback,   do midnight politics  , doing a slick Willie move and slip this in before the NBA ,can get too much involved and look at what is about to happen.   Remember CP3 ....that was exactly what was about to happen , put all the best players in one spot for ever. .

Davis to,Lakers is not good for the NBA ...IMO .....Kawhi will leave too.

This is all planned .

only NBA can stop it somehow ...and i have no idea what premise they could this time ...maybe none .  Unless the other owners all revolt .   It will kill competition in NBA , there will be only TWO teams   and one of those will ever year for,the next ten years.

According to Pelicans fans this is just a gesture by Davis to the Pelicans such that they don't make desperate trades to try to keep Davis. In this way the Pelicans don't unnecessarily throw away assets. Even though Davis has decided to leave, he still loves the franchise, the fans and he has a good relationship with the management. Davis wants to leave in a good way.

So I don't think there's a lot to worry. The deadline is in 10 days, that's a really short time to prepare and negotiate a massive deal anyway. And why should New Orleans not wait till the summer to get multiple teams to bid against each other. It's not exactly a secret that the Celtics want Davis, so why settle for an offer by the Lakers right now?
