Getting rid of Rozier itself would be addition by subtraction. If we can get a second round pick that is fine for me. If we can get a veteran guard who shoots well from 3 then even better.
I have absolutely no idea why Brad continues to trust him with so many minutes (he does NOT deserve 23 MPG). It baffles me even further that Brad continues to let him be the primary ball handler with the bench unit. He has no feel for the game, is an awful pick and roll player with terrible court vision, and sometimes has trouble executing even basic plays. For example, against Miami he couldn't throw a simple entry pass into Marcus Morris in the post because he failed to take one dribble towards the baseline to get a better angle to the entry pass. He dribbles the air out of the ball, then often takes a selfish, low percentage stepback shot, either a long 2 or a 3 pointer. Seldom do they go in. Defensively he's OK as an individual defender, but on team defense he gets lost way too often.
I'm thinking about all of the plays that would be run so much better if Hayward or Smart were initiating the offense. Both are far less selfish and are much better pick and roll players and passers. Brown, who often seems to be ignored while Rozier pounds the ball, would get more touches. In essence, each player that is better than Rozier would have the ball more.
Get it done Danny. The sooner the better. This is from a staunch supporter of Rozier in his rookie and sophomore years. I can't recall a player I've soured on more over the course of their development.
