LeBron James believes his performance in upsetting the Golden State Warriors during the 2016 Finals allowed him to think of himself as the best player to ever play the game.

"That one right there made me the greatest player of all time," James said.

The Warriors had won 73 games and had a 3-1 lead against the Cleveland Cavaliers before their comeback.

"That's what I felt," James told friends and business partners Maverick Carter, Randy Mims and Rich Paul. "I was super, super ecstatic to win one for Cleveland because of the 52-year drought. ... The first wave of emotion was when everyone saw me crying, like, that was all for 52 years of everything in sports that's gone on in Cleveland. And then after I stopped, I was like -- that one right there made you the greatest player of all time.

"Everybody was just talking -- how [the Warriors] were the greatest team of all time, like it was the greatest team ever assembled," he said. "And for us to come back, you know, the way we came back in that fashion, I was like, 'You did, you did something special.' That's probably one of the only times in my career I felt like, oh, s---, like you did something special. I haven't had, really had time, to really, like, sit back and think, but that ... that was a moment."

And *gulp* he was bailed out by Kyrie.

That performance against Golden State was epic. It deserves to be applauded as one of the great performances in Finals history.

Russell is the GOAT, Wilt is the most physically dominant, and MJ is the greatest of the modern era (although I’m partial to Bird and Magic).

If you are going to be the greatest player of all time, you have to believe you are. I used to despise Lebron through his cHeat days, but now really respect what he has done for the game, despite the occasional diva comment like this.

Really appreciate the perspective that your list illustrates, which I thinks shows some real understanding of the game. I have never, however, been someone to automatically rate Jordan higher than Bird & Magic. Both those guys could do things that Jordan could not. Both those guys also won a title within 2 years of entering a tough league. I have never believed Jordan's Bulls would have won even one title if they had played during the 80's era. Even the best Bulls group from the 90's did not have the pure talent that the Lakers, Celtics or '83 Sixers had and they played in a much weaker time period.
