Kinda funny, because prior to the draft a lot of people wanted us to take Hield and one of the reasons I preferred taking a guy like Jamal Murray (and was ok with the Brown pick) was because of how much older Hield was.

Buddy is clearly having 10x the season Jaylen is, but it's funny that Jaylen is 4 years younger.

I know you really harp on age, but player development isn't steady. Players stagnate and don't develop regardless of age. As for Hield, I wouldn't be surprised if he has a career arc similar to a Redick, a shooter who has improved with age. For example, Hield's ballhandling is much more advanced than it was just a season ago.

I just want to point out that 3 days ago I decided to create a post on the NBA subreddit showering Buddy Hield with praise and saying we owe Vivek Ranadive an apology https://np.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/a755bn/is_it_time_to_formally_apologize_to_vivek_for/ - hoping it would jinx the Kings and help the pick.   The post went to the top of the sub and now 3 days later, Kings have fallen into the lotto and Buddy Hield is a year older.  Coincidence?  I think not.

That's subjective to athletically reliant players. However, players like Ray Allen, Korver, Redick, have all excelled, in some case improved up to their early 30's, because there game is predicated on skill more than athleticism. In addition, getting older increases their basketball IQ as it relates to setting up defenders, using picks, moving without the ball etc. Again, I expect Hield like those aforementioned players.

So you're saying boston blew it taking Jaylen 3rd

Imagine how good Jamal Murray will be in 5 years when he's the same age as Buddy Hield right now

No

On Murray, you're really missing the point. That's the fantasy basketball guy in you that doesn't really know how to analyze actual play. Murray isn't an off-the-ball type of guy in terms of scoring/movement. He's really good as a scorer in the PNR, but isn't the shooter people think he is despite a sweet looking stroke. 30% from 3's this season and 35% from 3's on his career illustrate how overrated he is as a shooter.

Nah.  You're looking at Murray right now instead of projecting him 5 years out when he's Hield's age.  When Buddy was 3 years older than Murray he was averaging 7 points with dreadful shooting for the Pelicans.  Gotta see how the kid looks when he's grown up.

If Buddy hield’s game will age well because of his shooting, then Kyries will too, especially considering his craftiness and passing. Plus he’s a better defender.
