This has little to do with brad Stevens. Look he isn’t perfect but he is not the core reason of our problem. Go look up what he said during training camp. “Our defense is bad we need work.” He didn’t even say it was ok. He didn’t mince words. He detected a big problem early in training camp. It’s his job to address the problem but the players have to do their part.
He wasn’t happy and basically could see where the arrow was pointed with this team. He wasn’t blinded by the talent. His initial detection and judgement from training camp was 100% spot on, meaning he’s a great coach. Most other coaches would have probably not see this type of problem so early before preseason games
So what you're saying is that he saw a problem early in the season, hasn't been able to do anything about it, but it's not his fault?
This is absolutely largely on Brad and the rest of the coaching staff, because this all very likely stems from the chemistry and pscyhological issues amongst the players that they simply haven't done anything to effectively address, which is one of their primary roles as coaches.
He's not managing his talent at all, and I'm convinced at this point that he just doesn't have those skills to manage talent of this magnitude, largely because he doesn't have the temperament or character to. He's as good as it gets at maximizing talent, but at this level that's not enough when you actually have the talent to work with.
The OP is right - the honeymoon is over. Right now he's wasting the most talent we've had in a decade, and if he doesn't get it right soon he absolutely will be on the hot seat.
