Very good trade for 76ers in my opinion. Saric and Covington are ok, but not great. How butler gets along with Simmons and fultz will be fascinating.

Per Woj:

Sixers and Butler aren't allowed to enter into a negotiation or a agree on an extension yet, but barring physical issues or Butler failing to fit into the Embiid-Simmons dynamic both sides are optimistic on a long-term future. Sixers would be paying a steep price for a rental.

On paper, it looks like a bad return for Minnesota, but I look at it as how that team will fit, and I kind of like it.

Covnington brings in 3PT shooting and defense, and if they use him properly, Dario Saric can finally be unleashed and be that point forward type of player that he has been known coming into the draft.

I kind of like it.
Don't like the fit of Saric next to KAT. The two of them might be the worst defensive big man duo in the NBA.

I guess I disagree with this assessment. They got two legit NBA starters for Butler who was on an expiring deal and had no intention to resign. I think Saric will be a lot better with the ability to playmake more often. Covington is a good defender (although I think he is overrated a bit).

On top of that, the swing forward position is the most valuable position in the NBA right now.

Admittedly, the Wolves need a better shot creator at guard, but I like the way the Wolves are taking shape.

Feels like Philly are skipping steps with this trade. I’m interested to see how he fits in that locker room. Taking some pressure off of Simmons might be what they need. East ain’t what it used to be anymore that’s for sure.

Saric AND Covington, wow seems like overpay for Butler, hope they work out for Minny though.

I hate to say it but that is an excellent trade for the Sixers. Covington and Saric are good but adding Butler takes them to the next level. Not a lot to give up IMO.

I still believe we have the better roster, however we really need to get it together soon... the division (and conference) have gotten a lot tougher.

On paper they look scary, but I dont know how Butler would fit here.

Simmons and Embiid are already ball dominant players, adding another one might kill their ball movement. And Butler also has a habit of calling out teammates when things don't go his way, and if this happens in Philly, it could be trouble.

I know Butler is a good to great player.  But I agree that he is ball dominant.  If Simmons could develop a 3 point shot, this move would have a lot more impact.  Butler is a decent 3 point shooter, so maybe he provides the spacing?  I am not happy about this trade ( I don't want Philly getting any better), but Butler hasn't been a very good team mate for a while now.  I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't sign long term with the 76ers.

Butler or Middleton would have been my top target in the offseason if I were the Sixers.  On court, Butler should be a great fit on offense and defense.  He'll reduce Embiid's offensive load and make the Sixers much tougher at the end of games.  They really needed a top notch shot creator.  Between Embiid and Butler, they'll be getting to the free throw line a lot.

Butler's personality is the big question in my mind but I think that gets alleviated by the Sixers winning and being defense focused.  There's a huge difference between playing with Embiid and Townes.

Philadelphia will need to get some shooters/role players, but that probably won't be a problem because of the buy-out market  :'(.

Butler is a difference maker. They won't be a cakewalk like last year.
