It's a slight tear of the plantar fascia.

https://mobile.twitter.com/celtics/status/1056958689163259905?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1056958689163259905&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fnesn.com%2F2018%2F10%2Fceltics-daniel-theis-out-indefinitely-with-plantar-fascia-tear-in-right-foot%2F

Does anyone have an idea what the recovery time is for that?  I just hope he's healthy and ready for the playoffs.
It really depends on how slight the tear is.  If it’s very slight it probably won’t be too long, but if it’s a little bit more substantial it could be a while... and he’ll probably have to keep up with some maintenance stuff from now on if he had plantar tightness prior to the injury.

I had plantar fasciitis issues for a couple years that I went through so much to try to get past.  Just when I thought it was in the rearview I started slacking on my maintenance stuff and ended up feeling it tear several times while on a run.  It turned out to be a complete tear.  It was pretty bad for about 6 months.  I was hobbling around.  But the tear cured the tightness problem and now I’m back to running marathons and Ironman 70.3’s.

Young Theis just can't catch a break.  Weeks or months, but not season ending --

I wish we had a way to get Harrel from Doc. They want the playoffs and already have pick protections that we probably can't dangle because it's lotto protected anyway.

Yabu and their pick back isn't going to cut it I'd guess.

Sorry, forgot to add that it's sad about Theis, every time he gets rolling great he gets injured. Can't catch a break!
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

Isn't this the same injury that ended Tommy's career?

That's a Tommy Point.

Theis future question:   Since Theis was brought here on a 2-year deal and is making only about 1.3M this year, does this mean that C's would not have Bird Rights and therefore can only sign Theis next year for minimum or with an exception?

If that is correct, isn't it likely the C's lose him this off-season (assuming he heals from injury and plays like the solid back-up 4-5 he seems capable of being on this team)? Or do you think an MLE-type offer would be enough to keep him?

From CB:

Theis’ contract is due to expire after this season. At that point, Boston could make him a restricted free agent by tendering him a qualifying offer. Theis would be subject to the so-called “Arenas Provision”, under which an opposing team could craft an offer sheet that would be difficult for the Celtics to match.

I'd be very glad to see more of Williams.  If Baynes isn't back to 100%, we may be seeing a lot more (maybe too much of) the rookie.

I am really sorry for Theis. Maybe he should not have played the other night.

I have just recovered from a players tear. It took most of 3 months.

I don’t know the extent of Theis’ tear and of course he’ll get state of the art therapy but expect this to take a while.

It’s a very painful injury . Expect him to be booted for a couple weeks minimum. A serious tear could easily be 3 months or longer. I’d expect a shorter time  with state of the art but we all heal differently.

Peyton Manning and Drew Brees tore planters and returned fairly quickly .

Williams should get some time now.

This sucks.  I was really enjoying watching Theis help us out on the 2nd unit.

I also had a small tear in my PF a few years ago.  Yes it happened while playing basketball.  It was pretty difficult to walk normally for at least a couple months.  It took forever to fully heal but I was a lot older than DT is right now, so hopefully young heels heal faster.

Basketball is tough on this type of injury, running and jumping just doesn't let it heal.  Staying in shape is really tough until it heals enough.  Crap I should stop typing, making myself depressed.

Get well soon DT!  We need you man.

That's too bad.

Theis is one of those players that play bigger than they are.

I have to wonder what his injury history was when he played in Europe.
