Every game that passes it becomes more clear that Brown should be on the bench and Smart should start

It is amazing that I just watched the same game, and I respectfully completely disagree with you. lol...
I feel the same way. Just don't get that take. Pretty obvious to me he has been one of the best Celtics on the floor the last two nights and deserves his starting position. His defense has been great
I agreed with Moranis prior to the two Detroit games, because I thought JB needed to get some touches. Now he looks like what I expected, or at least close to it

I didn't get to see the game tonight, but from the box score it's hard to fathom that smart outplayed brown tonight
It isn't about outplaying, it is about putting the players in the position for which they can both be more successful.  Brown is better than Smart, but Brown needs touches to really be successful and he didn't really get those touches till the second half (and he was very good out of half time) when it appeared the team made a concerted effort to get him involved (almost at the expense of everyone else).  I just think Brown would be better as the 6th man.  He would be a position where he would be the 1st or 2nd option a lot more frequently.  Smart also seems a lot more tentative this year and I think starting him would give him back the fire that he needs to really be successful.  I like that he has toned down his shooting, which I think would continue if he was starting.

Re: The part in bold.  Maybe.

Or maybe if Smart is starting with KI+GH+JT+AH on the floor, other teams will sag completely off him, leaving him often as the only one to shoot.    This is, after all, one of the reasons why he has shot 'a little more often than we might like' in the past 4 years.   Because when he's the wide open guy the ball will find it's way to him and he is, in this offense, supposed to take that shot.

Brown's touches (like those of ALL the starters) are going to come and go depending on match ups and who among the starters has the best situation.  But as a team effect, his presence demands defenses account for him.  Which helps out the other 4 starters even when he isn't getting the touches.

NBA Officiating - Corrupt?  Incompetent?  Which is worse?  Does it matter?  It sucks.

They don't need to screw with the starting lineup.  It's fine.

It's also October 31st.   Let them continue to get the reps in.  Also, being a starter is an over-rated concept if you really want to get down to it.   What's much more interesting is the crunch time lineup, IMO.
