Hey all...I figured this would be the best place to ask...

I have NBA 2k8 for PS3 and its awesome and I love it.  But I have a slight problem.

I'm doing an association with the Celtics and its all fine and dandy, but recently it seems like all of sudden intentional fouls just don't work.  Like you can do them, but they're not called either way and it just ends up being a turnover or 8 second backcourt and its really annoying.

What's odd is that it still works for my association for the celtics, but now for single games they don't work and my buddy and I created a team with like all of our friends as the players and were gonna do an association with that, but the intentional fouls aren't called and it really ruins the end of the game if its close.

I'm quite afraid that its a bug that can't be fixed, or if it can be, I have delete like EVERYTHING on the game and start allllll over like I just bought it.  Anyone know of a way to solve this?  Cause in other forums there's been posts about people having the same problem, but no one really says an answer on how to fix it

Issues I have that might just be me needing more time getting used to:
1. Non-existent fast break. The defenders are lightning fast getting back, almost never results in points.
2. Missed layups. Ok, once or twice a game is ok, but this happens like 10 times a game. Almost unacceptable.
3. Getting frozen in a double team. You can't call a time out.
4. AI making dumb mistakes. It got called for offensive 3 seconds! It never cuts to the basket. The quick screen play does nothing!
5. Pump fake to lift the defender, then the guy bumps into him trying to dribble by and gets stuck. Come on!

Does anyone have any slider suggestions? Tips? I like to mess with the team setting sliders, but I still have problems with TONS of missed layups and almost nonexistent fast break.

About the non-existent fast break you speak of, I get a good 5 buckets on the break every game.

As for the missed layups, it's realistic and I'm glad we don't make every one. Watch an NBA game, you obviously get frustrated with missed shots inside, and it happens more than twice per game.

Pass out of the double-team quickly.

Obviously the AI isn't going to cut unless you tell it to. If you don't run any plays or use off-ball control, of course they won't get open. Also, Pierce got called for 3 seconds last night when KG had the ball at the top of the key. It happens, and rarely in 2k8 for that matter.

About the dribbling contact... well, that's realistic. If you want to go around your defender after a pump fake, run around him, not through him.

I think I still just kinda don't have a hang of the game at this point. I had been playing 2K5 since it came out, where you get to the basket pretty much at will every time.

Anyone wanna explain how to use the off ball control? or know where I can find a list of all the low post moves, so far I have baby hook, up and under, and fadeaway, how do you do the dropstep dunk?

The only thing that annoys me in 2k8 is the player roles thing. I have Andrew Bynum on my team in the game. I set his role to be 'your replaceable if an upgrade comes along' and he's a starter. Chris Paul is the best player on my team, Bynum gets more minutes than Paul. But Bynum's morale is like the lowest on the team because he wants more minutes.

P.S: I'm officially addicted to NBA 2k8

I think there's been 457 threads on this lol

I actually haven't gotten either- still have my Live 2007.  Anyone know if Live 2008 stops taking guys out when they're injured instead of allowing them to shoot the free throws first?  Because if it's in the game, it's in the game, or so they say  ;)

If your playing with the celtics, give James Posey the ball. He is my high scorer in my franchise league. He is deadly from three point land. Paul Pierce on the other hand is the worst player in this game. And whatever they did to the system for making layups is awful because noone on any team can ever make a lay up even on fast breaks.

I agree PP is awful in this game. I don't know if it's cause he has a longer release than other players, but I just can't play with him. Ray Allen is unstoppable on open looks. If you're on the break try dunking it instead of going for a layup, but I agree you do miss an inordinate amount of easy layups.

Backing down with KG in the post in pretty much guaranteed points every time. Also Rondo can drain the open 3 for some reason with some consistency.

Anyone have NBA 2K8?

I have it for ps2 and so far I've been very impressed.  I initially bought NBA Live '08 about a week ago but returned it 2 days later.  For some reason i keep coming back to NBA Live even though I'm always disappointed by it and although i bought the 2K series in years past and have always enjoyed it.

So anyways, i just started playing online and was interested in seeing if anyone on this blog is doing the same on ps2; my online name is jrodgod.  Another feature that i'm impressed with - though i'm sure NBA Live has the same thing - is that i joined a league where every team is controlled by a different manager and we play a complete season.

yeah I have it for 360, and it is quite a solid game, my only complaint is with play calling, as you are somewhat limited to the number of plays you can use (4 beyond the basic ones), I end up using the pick and roll 90% of the time. Also where's BBD? Can you add a player once the season has started?
