My defense is solid, but my ballhandling sucks. Any ideas?

Also I seem to miss every layup. I don't know why

Oden is WAYYYY overrated. Be the blazers. Shoot 3's with Martell Webster, and watch aldridge and oden BEAST the paint.

Bought NBA 2k8 for PS3 today since it officially hit the stores...

While it could be that I just haven't played an Nba 2k game for awhile, it seemed real tough.  First and foremost, the graphics are ridiculous.  Keep in mind that all I've done is just play exhibition games and tried doing a dunk contest and 3pt contest.

My first thought was that (and my buddy agreed with me) it seems like they tried to make it a little too complicated then it needed to be.  I previously have only played Nba 2k6 (I'm the kind of guy that buys a sports game every 2 years) and the first thing I noticed was the free throw shooting.  Instead of using the right joystick to do the freethrows, you now use the sixaxis feature, which yes means that you tilt the whole controller.  I HATE it!  I can't get it used to it at all.  It may improve though.

Same thing goes for this new slam dunk contest...absolutely terrible.  I can't get the hang of it at all, but hopefully over time it will improve.  But yeah, the games themselves are very realistic.  Setting up plays are kinda tough cause its no longer just picking a play on the d-pad.  Now, you press right on the d-pad and then the plays are under x, o, square, and triangle...so it takes more time.  Gameplay is a bit slower this time around too.

Again, keep in mind that I've only had it for about 5 hours and haven't played it a crazy amount cause my friend and I are still finishing a co-op on Resistance: Fall of Man so we continued that tonight.

I'm sure it'll turn out to be my favorite game on PS3 haha, I just gotta get used to playing a basketball videogame since its been awhile.

Am I the only idiot that picked up NBA Live '08 and not 2K8(xbox360)?  I swear I saw an NBA LIVE 08 thread in here somewhere before but now I can't find it.  ANyway if no one here really has NBA Live 08 I might just have to got get 2K8 as well...

Just have to mention that I played LIVE with the C's last night for a few hours and I think it really gives you a pretty good idea of what the team is going to be like.  They do really underrate Rondo ratings wise but the others are pretty much right.  Ray never misses, Garnett gets crazy boards, PP can do it all and Perk takes up space.

All in all I am very impressed with this LIVE 08, it's definately the best one I've played yet.

On another note.  I was getting beat by the Suns online last night pretty good.  I put in Posey at PF and TA at PG and ended up winning by 30.  TA went nuts on Nash and was catching dunks all over the place.  Ray had 25 and TA has 20.  I really like that lineup with KG a center and Posey at PF.  Also, Pollard was a monster inside in the few minutes he got.

It's the ratings. The one major complaint I have about 2k8 is how poorly they rated teams and players. One of the biggest reasons is that they weighted shooting ratings more than they should have... which is why you have guys like Eddie House and Gabe Pruitt rated higher than Rajon Rondo. Rondo can't shoot, they can, and that one difference changes everything. They don't consider the fact that Rondo does literally EVERYTHING else better than each of them. The shooting is weighted too heavily.

But, this is just another one of those fixable problems. I will tinker ratings to make them more accurate.

Rondo is still nice in 2k8 I think.  He's fast, plays good defense, and is a fairly good yet inconsistent passer.  Who cares if he can shoot in the game, if you honestly shoot with him then you're foolish haha.  You've got KG, Pierce and Ray Ray who needs Rondo to shoot?
do it

The ball handling is impossible with the default controls. I changed it to alternate A I think (whatever the one is that has isomotion for b button) and got rid of that useless get open thing.

What is it with Tony Allen in NBA Live, playing point guard and being so dominant lol? It's really amazing.

I insert him into the starting lineup almost every game I play. He is good defensively and dunks well which is key but they make his shooting ability a little weak i think. The silly thing is that he is better defensively than Rondo. Pretty much every game he should be put in the starting lineup right now.
