Ayton looks like a good player -- Lamarcus Aldridge-type frontcourt piece. But I think the other off-season moves were the cause for concern. Ariza? Anderson? Bridges for Smith and a future pick? They had a ton of cap flexibility, expiring contracts, and picks, and they left this off-season only marginably better, while wasting assets to do it. Edit: Also, the Suns have always tried to be players on big name trades. What if McDonough was unwilling to get in the Butler sweepstakes, and the owner fired him because of it?
To be honest i did not understand many of their trades for several years..
