What a great start the Celtics had last year even without Hayward.

I know it is preseason, but the Celtics starters played terrible in the Cavs game in Boston.  What a mess - no D and how many shots were shots clanging off the front of the rim.

Working in Kyrie and Gordon into the starting lineup is going to take time; they are going to be rusty and probably not in very good shape.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Celtics start 11-7 (or worse??) this year.  Most experts have the Celtics as the favorites to win the East but it is going to be tough to exceed last years record being only 1 game from the NBA finals even with Kyrie and Hayward hopefully playing an entire season.

Go Celtics!!

If it makes you feel better, winning the East typically means getting to the finals from the East, not necessarily the best record.  C's should still be the favorites to get to the finals even without the best record.

Slam of course I realize the C's can make the East finals without the beat record in the East; they did that last year.

I'm just saying will it be a failure for this team to fail to make the NBA finals this year no matter what their record is? ....a tough bar to exceed.

I was thinking they would start something like 15-5... If they were 10-10 at 20 games in, I'd be disappointed....

0.500 through 20 games seems about right to me.

This has been a disappointing pre-season.  Even CBS said that or worse depending on how you interpret his press conference after the last game.

No matter what, there's hope even if you start bad.

I just remember back in '06 the Mavs went 0-4 to start the season, and then went 67-11 the rest of the way.  They were a bad start away from breaking 70 wins (but then lost in the 1st round so we won't talk about them).

LeBron/Wade/Bosh started 9-8 in their first season together back in '11.

Warriors started 4-3 last year.

And for more of a worst case scenario, the '97 Suns started with 13 straight losses and went 1-14, and then played with a 60 win pace the rest of the year, making the playoffs and pushing the #1 seed to a 5th game in a best of 5 first round.

Though I'm still hoping the C's start 82-0 in the regular season and 16-0 in the playoffs.

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

I don't doubt the Celtics will start slowly. The thing is, they can still win games while playing relatively poorly. I don't expect a major struggle in the win/loss column. But I do hope we see much more cohesive play from Feb.-June than we will on opening night.

  • Be the posts you wish to see in the world.
Bright side: we won't start 0-2 with a major injury either.

Might as well go full tank, get our own pick to be #1 and the SAC pick as #2!
