My impression of internet sports forums is that fans hate players who are merely good because they are not superstars.

Fans hate superstars because they make too much money.

Kyrie won't get 200 million.  Something like 188 million, which I get is somewhat close to 200 million, but is still over 2 million less per year.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

Imo, it all depends on

- Kyrie's trade value
- Danny's optimism regarding Kyrie's decision next summer

For instance, if I could flip Kyrie for let's say KAT, that's a trade I'd do regardless of what I expect to happen next summer.

Likewise, if I were sure Kyrie plans to leave Boston via free agency, I would probably be willing to trade him for a lesser player. Let's say in a 3-way with Portland and NY for McCollum.

With all that said, I fully expect Kyrie to stay with the C's for the foreseeable future. Personally speaking, I 'd trade Rozier at the deadline and then offer Kyrie a 5-year max (or close to max) next summer.

Irving, but Ainge isn’t the type to let an asset like Rozier just walk for nothing under these circumstances.  It’s not like the situation letting Olynyk walk so we can have the cap space to sign Hayward.

The only question in my mind is how deep in the tax ownership is willing to go.  If there is a limit, maybe at the very least Ainge will try to work a sign and trade with Rozier, or maybe even Smart is traded and we keep Rozier.

People will disagree.  But Irving has a chance to be a hall of famer. He is arguably a top 2-3 point guard right now

Who could possibly disagree with that? Irving is already a 5-timer allstar, 2nd best player on a champion, rookie or the year, and hes 26. As long as he stays even relatively healthy, he's a lock for the hall.

 189 million for Irving
60 million 4 years for Rozier (Guessing)

it didn't take long though after posing this question to get a much clearer picture of what these guys are going to actually command.
