The Celtics have plans to take a close look at Marcus Georges-Hunt this week, according to a source with knowledge of the situation.

Georges-Hunt, who appeared in 42 games for the Timberwolves last season, is set to work out for the team Tuesday in Boston, per the source. The free agent is already well-known in the Celtics organization after competing in the team’s 2016 training camp and later landing a roster spot with the Maine Red Claws, Boston’s minor league affiliate.

Georges-Hunt, a 6-foot-5 wing, has averaged 1.6 points on 41.8-percent shooting over 47 career NBA games. While he has only knocked down five career NBA 3-pointers, he has shown the ability to contribute in that category by shooting 39.4 percent on 4.2 attempts per game in the developmental G  League. Georges-Hunt averaged 15.8 points, 6.4 rebounds and 4.4 assists for the Red Claws during the 2016-17 season.

The Celtics currently have 15 players on guaranteed contracts, the maximum...

I would hope we work out a few more and not grab the first guy to come available.

Any or all of the above.  He was in camp last year, not sure what your concern is.

It's unlikely that any guy they pick up now will be a rotation player, if Bird is indeed let go they will be looking at end of bench type guys. Whoever they get will likely be inactive for most games.

Not a concern so much as an observation. Why add more medocre wing players? If we really need bodies why not a big man for end of the bench?

Georges-Hunt competed for a roster spot with the Celtics in 2016 and ended up playing for the Maine Red Claws.

The Celtics currently have 15 players on guaranteed contracts, the maximum allowed by league rules during the regular season. The future of Jabari Bird with the Celtics is uncertain following an alleged domestic violence incident.

Georges-Hunt played 42 games last season for the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Sure!  Got any suggestions?  I trust C's brass to bring in the BPA.  It's not like the team has a specific positional need.  Yes, the frontcourt could use some more beef, but I bet somebody becomes available before the trade deadline.

Slightly off-topic, but what are the salary cap implications of Birds’ deal now? Does being arrested void a contract in the NBA or will that # count against our luxury tax # for the rest of the season?
