how are your fellow posters supposed to know such things when you yourself are obviously unsure?

not sure where this thread goes.
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
In reading the thread title, I assumed it was a Tatum thread. Most NBA players are easily an inch or two shorter than their listed heights, but Tatum is probably the only player on the team with the potential to outgrow his 6'8" height. Robert Williams is already listed at 6'10", and while we would all be psyched if he pushed 7'0", I will be happy if he can just match that height.

Brown is officially listed at 6'7 but a lot of posters here call him 6'8.  He seems like a 6'7 in Tom Cruise shoes to my eye.  Maybe it's an illusion from the short shorts.

His hair bugs out. When he stands next to LeBron though, he looks substantially shorter... like 3 inches

Tatum is definitely taller than 6'8" it looks to me. Theis is also huge for a guy that's supposedly 6'9"

I agree.  I've noticed that he looks like a midget compared to Lebron when he's supposed to be pretty close in height.

"...like a midget compared to Lebron ..." ?????

Hmmm...

Definitely skinnier.  Maybe a shade shorter off the top of the head.

But "a midget"?   Nah.

I don't know if Brown is 6'7'' or 6'8'', but remember when Love isolated Brown in a postup in the playoffs, and Brown swatted the ball into the second row? He plays big.

Tatum is definitely taller than 6'8''. Watch the Hanlen video where he hit the shot over Bamba. They are standing right next to each other after the shot goes in and Tatum is almost as tall.

Jaylen measured 6'-5.25" w/o shoes and 6'-7.75" with shoes at the draft combine.  To me, that makes him 6'-5" or maybe 6'-6" but these days, it is common to quote the with shoes value.  His official listed height is 6'-7", consistent with using the with shoes value.

Tatum didn't go to the combine and was not measured as I understand it.  I think the NBA should require measurements if you want to be drafted.  Some players will grow after the combine but I think that is fairly rare.  I am sure that everyone tries to wear thick shoes to the combine.  Brown's shoes added 2.5".  Come on....

It may be silly, but it's a long standing tradition to list NBA guys by their height in shoes. You can assume that any height you see listed, unless specified w/o shoes, is with shoes. This has been true for decades and is not a new thing at all. By the way, I saw him measured as 6 6.75 in shoes, not 6 7.75, which makes the size of his shoes more reasonable.
