If Al wins a chip, it's going to be hard to keep him out.

2 and a budget re-sign - no question.

Right?

I'm all for retiring numbers 00 to 83 to p--- off everyone. Just keep the 16 numbers you need for a roster.

More seriously, on Horford, that's a bit early, but assuming he wins a title here he will be in the conversation for sure.

why are we so quick to put everybody in the rafters? if we put everybody up there it takes away from the guys that were really special.

If 5 isn't up I don't think 42 would be after 1 ring

There is almost nothing realistic that Horford could do in Boston that would make me think he belongs in the rafters.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

Isn't he already in the rafters?

I think you (should) need either to be a large part of two championships or one plus 10 or more years on the team in order to get your number retired. Al has an outside shot at the first one, but I don't think being the 3rd-to-5th best player would be enough (I also don't think KG and Ray belong up there, as much as I love KG)

It would make him a sure-fire hall of famer when you consider his college and pro career, but I don't think it would be enough for getting his number retired

I don't see Horford ever having his number retired here. Now if the trio of Kyrie, Brown and Tatum leads the CS to multiple titles, meaning Tatum and Brown reach their full potential, then maybe those guys have their numbers retired someday. But that's a gigantic if.

maybe an unpopular opinion but...I think Horford will be deserving of a hall of fame nod when its all said and done. 2x college champ, has never missed the playoffs in the NBA, multiple time all star, epitomizes a 2010's big. Love the guy. Hope he makes it to the rafters AND the hall.

he's got a solid resume for the HOF with those 2 NCAA titles but really could use an NBA title to lock it up.  that's much different from having his number hanging in the rafters though

Al Horford looks like the type to go to a team like Indiana or Minnesota, after winning his first ring.

Unless he's still interested in forming superteams with Kawhi and Butler in LA because that's where everyone wants to go these days.

If things go right, Tatum and Brown have the best chances to get in the rafters with the other all time Celtic greats.
