First concert....Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass with Sergio Mendes and Brasil 66 at the DC outdoor Carter Barron Amphitheater, 1966.
Best concert....Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes, early 70s at the Celler Door, 200+ max seating. The horns were amazing.
Worst and one of the best at the same time....an incredible performer named Emitt Rhodes who wrote, sang, and played all the instruments on his albums in the early 70s. Sounded like Paul McCartney after breaking away from the Beatles. He had stage fright and had to be ushered on stage by his manager. He then sat at a piano and kept his back to the audience the whole show. George Carlin was the opening act and did his thing for more than an hour while we waited for Rhodes to get enough courage to come on stage.
Better than expected...Ricky Nelson! A young group named America was his opening act...they were great.
Last memorable concert...The Stones. Doubt I'll ever see them again, lost interest in their sound.
