I am somewhat satisfied with Robert Williams dropping to the Celtics at pick number 27 but I was imagining if we would have received at least one more top 7 pick this past draft. We would have been set for a long time.
Let me explain what I am talking about. We need one more big man in the Al Horford mode because he is one the back side of his career. If we had one more top 7 pick (by getting the lakers pick to convey) We could have had Bamba, Carter JR, OR Jaren Jackson, Ayton was out of reach at number 1.
Look at the stats of each top 10 big man in their last game:
Ayton-29 minutes 21 points 11 rebounds, and 1 BLOCK
Wendell Carter JR-29 minutes 16 points, 9 rebounds, and 5 BLOCKS made 2 out of 3 three pointers
Jaren Jackson-24 minutes, 12 points, 8 rebounds, 4 BLOCKS, made 1 out of 1 three pointer )low scoring game but had a game with 29 points already)
Bamba-19 minutes, 11 points, 7 rebounds, 1 BLOCK, made 1 out of 2 three pointers
Going into the draft I wanted Wendell Carter Jr. It's hard to tell who will be the best big man our of the 4 but if I had to rank them now (I realize this is very premature) I would go:
1) Ayton-Will be in the mode of David Robinson
2) Wendell Carter JR-Moves way better than I thought and can really shoot
3) Jaren Jackson-Incredible talent who could be the best when all is said and done out of the 4
4) Bamba-His shooting surprised and also could be the best out of the 4 when all is said and done
Like I said this draft was incredible for big men that can do it all. I wished the Celtics could have gotten one of them. Williams may develop into a good player hopefully.
Also looks like the Knicks may have landed a good player in Knox. Mitchell also had 9 points 8 rebounds and 4 blocks for the Knicks in limited minutes so he may turn out to be a good player.
