If he had done so Bird would be an unrestricted free agent. That's probably the only reason he hasn't received an offer as of now. Teams know that we're in position to, and will likely match.

I mean I like Morris and he seems to be a great guy (not a locker room cancer), HOWEVER during the playoffs (as they went on), he just soured on me. Forget the Game 7, just look at how he did from Game 1 of the Sixers series all the way to the end. Brick after brick after brick. Low IQ Shot after Low IQ Shot. Pretty sure in the 2nd round and ECF combined, he shot 35% from the field. Even during the Bucks series, had two games where he shot 5/14, and 4/14.

All made it really infuriating when it's late in Game 7 and we're watching Morris playing hero ball   and bricking everything (including an airball on a wide open 3 attempt)

Because we only see him in garbage time and summer league. He's got skills, but there's a reason why he hasn't made it yet, he's just not that good. He may develop into something, but losing Bird would not be all that big a deal. He would be the fourth pg on this roster.

I’m not going to quibble with this except for one thing: Jabari Bird is in no sense a point guard.  He’s a classic 2 with outstanding length who would benefit from adding another 10-15 pounds or so.

Yes and no, imo, as while I agree that playing through Tatum was obviously costly, what really hurt us was the strict adherence to analytics vs. actually playing basketball throughout that contest, and the Rockets made the same mistake. Hmm...

Astute observation and I couldn't agree more.  But, there were certain C's who tried to play BB the old fashioned (and still successful) way but weren't rewarded for their effort.

Ugh. I know. How many times was Horford being guarded by Hill right under the basket only for us to continue to jack threes? Yeesh .

Because many of them were wide open and you get an extra point if you make them? You don’t need advanced analytics to tell you three is more than two and that wide open shots are good to take.

Remember, the posters here are always 100% right and go 82-0 every season and undefeated in the playoffs. Yes, but a three pointer, open or not, is a much lower percentage shot as opposed to getting the ball deep in the paint to Al Horford being guarded by George Hill, lol .

Plus, how many threes do you have to miss in a row, not to mention overall, before you finally realize that it's just not your night from beyond the arc?
