Yes it is too early to say it. Kyrie could just as easily get hurt again next season. He has played 60 games or less in 4 of 7 nba seasons. He basically missed all of his one year at Duke. Players rarely get healthier as they get older. If I had to bet, I would put my money on Kyrie getting hurt again.

The terms "favorite" implies that the chose is only relevant to the time it is made. So yes, as of this moment that Celtics are the favorite. That could of course change with injuries, signings, ect.

No, not at all.  Vegas has them as the favorites, after all.  However, while it's not too soon to say that the Celtics are the Eastern Conference favorites, it's also not too late for another team to pass them by.

Celtics are favorites with a healthy roster. Personally, I wanted James to stay in Cleveland so we could escort him out of the playoffs the way we used to do. I hate all this "happiness" because Lebron left the East. I want to beat my rivals, not run from them.

Celts will remain favorites long-term if Danny doesn't trade away young talent and alienate remaining players in the process.

people need to stop worrying about crap out their control. LEBRON IS A PRIME EXAMPLE. nobody here is running from lebron. LEBRON KNEW HE WAS TOAST NEXT YEAR IF HE STAYED. we would beat his ass.

I spend my life worrying about crap I have no control over.

Teams have traded away young talent before and won more. Remember Al Jefferson? ****.

One difference with Al Jefferson and his teammates at that time was that they had not proven they could win - in fact, quite the opposite. I still love Big Al though.

No,
We could, as a team, make more straight finals than Lebron, who continuously looked for the best situations.

Boston Celtics, outwinging teams to death since 2018.

This is because young talent rarely wins. Which even makes your statement more absurd.

Players get traded all the time, and its often the Vets getting traded that makes the lockerroom upset. When Harden was traded did Presti alienate the lockerroom? It was a bad decision, but not because the lockerroom was alienated, but because the return was bad.

Just the year before, OKC traded another young player in Jeff Green for Perk. Did OKC lose more? No, in fact they won more than 10 wins the next season.

At this point you are just spouting your own narrative like usual.

"Spouting" narratives is what people do in discussion forums, but, hey, glad my opinions have provided such enjoyable reading for you, jerk-off.

I could easily list a dozen trades of young talent that turned out bad for the team that traded the player away. All you are doing is pulling out isolated trades that support your "narrative".

I don't completely trust Danny to do the right thing - sorry that upsets the mindless masses.

Talent and depth. Things could change for other teams but I can't see any team having a better coach, array of talented players or bench depth the Celtics have, even if Smart goes. I imagine the Celtics are very short to win the East with bookies.

I agree with this.  After all, we could meet him in the Finals in 2019.   ;)

The team that reach ECF  and come that close to the finals without the two best players is by default a strong favourite... Maybe not the clear favourite to win the East without effort but still today is the best team in the conference

Philly is the media choice but the media is wrong as Philly has some flawed players.  We are the BEAST OF THE EAST but we have to put TOR in their place....
