Stevens third in #NBA Coach of the Year voting with Danny Ainge 4th as Executive of the Year.

Anti Celtics bias in media confirmed
“Ainge trades DOWN for best player in the draft + lottery pick, gets Kyrie for 3 lugnuts and a bottle cap, keeps just 4 from conference finalist & builds roster deep enough to get back again without Kyrie and Hayward. [dang]. .”

Ainge 4th is an even bigger joke than Stevens 3rd.

In the last year, he traded down but still grabbed the best player in the draft, cleared out room for a max All-Star free agent, traded for another one, and still had created a strong enough bench to absorb the loss of both said All-Stars to win even more games than the prior year’s #1 seed, despite turning over 11 of the 15 roster spots.

And I’m sure neither of them care.

Ainge already has that award, and knows the team he built is good enough.

Stevens will get the award soon enough, when they can’t deny him with a straight face.

The awards are bogus.

Yeah, I agree its more egregious than Stevens' finishing 3rd.  What this team did this past season coming off of a ECF appearance in '16-17 is truly remarkable.  It'll go on Ainge's Mt. Rushmore.

4th is an absolute joke.

I agree, Ainge not winning the EOY is even more ridiculous than Stevens not getting COY. I thought Danny had that award wrapped up before the season even began. So Daryl Morey won for signing a free agent (Chris Paul), but who were the other two guys?

Well, at least we got some credit for nabbing Robert Williams.

We were among the 6 "Draft Steals" this year, according to ESPN.

I love Robert Williams and thinks he will be a special player BUT to be recognized by ESPN for drafting him where we did?

I thought I was being Akbar'd, to be honest.

ESPN doesn't give kindly to BOS. At least NOW we know things are back to normal.

Danny Ainge and Brad Stevens deserve MUCH better but they'll be the LAST to complain about it. All they want are results and banners and this team will give them just that over the next 5-10 years.

And ESPN will STILL give the awards to someone else.

Wait, wait, wait.

Daryl Morey does a sign and trade for Chris Paul (Danny did a sign and trade for Gordon Hayward).

Kevin Pritchard trades Paul George for Victor Oladipo (Danny traded Isaiah Thomas for Kyrie Irving).

Dennis Lindsey drafts Donovan Mitchell (Danny drafts Jayson Tatum and gets another potential lottery pick by trading down).

Am I miss something here? Each of the guys that finished ahead of Danny had basically one significant move last offseason. Danny matched each of them collectively.

Total joke. We all knew Stevens would probably be ripped off, but Ainge may have had one of the best off-seasons of all-time - at least in the diversity of his accomplishments (FA/trades/draft). I know these guys don't really care, but all people like to be recognized for a job well done.

The voting breakdown is kinda interesting.   Danny actually received the most 2nd place votes (7) of anyone.  However, he only received 1 first place vote & 3 third place votes.  That's where his total points got tanked.

Did Morey literally win for getting Chris Paul to take a trade there? I can't find any other transactions of note other than dumping Dillon Brooks who looks decent and signing so-so role players like Tucker.  I guess the Harden extension helped? Lifetime achievement award?

Adding a max player is as good a reason as any I guess.

He did?

But yeah, had we had just one of Kyrie/Hayward, we go further than all of the top GM’s teams. If we have both, we probably have best record and win the chip.

Can’t fault Danny for what happened to Hayward opening night or that Kyrie had an infection, otherwise his knee injury wouldn’t have been season-ending.

Ainge didn't S&T Hayward, but I get your point.

The Jazz unanimously knew if Hayward was leaving, to S&T Crowder/filler to them instead of letting Hayward leave for nothing, and ironically they ended up with him anyways.

- trades the 60th pick of the 2011 draft (IT) for the 1st pick of the 2011 draft (Kyrie)
-trades the worst player in the draft (fultz ) for the best player in draft (Tatum) and gets paid a lottery pick for his troubles
- trades Bradley for The best defender of lebron, Bradley proceeds to fall off the face of the planet
- picks up the best free agent available
- is able to get kyrie to waive his trade kicker
-picks up baynes theis and Larkin who help get us to game 7 of ecf finals
Yup I’d say it’s highway robbery
