I'd love for LeBron to come to BOS but not at Kyrie's expense.

We rode Kyrie's leadership and talent to 55 wins. The youngsters then took it from there.

I'd like to ADD him to BOS somehow but not at losing anyone if that's possible.

Would LeBron even WANT to come to BOS? To forge his own legacy as a PART of Russell, Couse, Cowen, Red, Larry, PP34?

He may be too BIG for BOS.

If he came HERE that would be quite a blow

to CLE (and Indy).

I agree with you that James may be "too big" for Boston in some ways. But I'd welcome him in a heartbeat and retire his number the day after he decides to call it quits. I see only three realistic places for James to go: Cleveland, Golden State, and Boston. Houston and LA get a lot of talk, but they are bad choices as far as winning is concerned.

Golden State is definitely not realistic, and I honestly cannot fathom him going there unless he seriously doesn't care about his legacy... Let's be honest.

Why not? Golden State would trade Klay Thompson for him. One of the best shooters of all time and a top 15 player in the league. Fans on this board are saying Irving is too much to give in a trade for James. If I'm Cleveland and Boston won't trade me Irving and Brown, I will just take Klay Thompson.

That said, GS makes the most sense from a basketball standpoint. James can play his natural SF position (as Durant projects to play PF now) but finish games as the PG as they run Curry off screens.

Golden State is only realistic if you believe LeBron would take less than the max (there is no evidence that he is likely to do so) or if you believe KD would again take less than the max so that LeBron could come (that feels like a dubious proposition).  Otherwise Golden State would literally have to trade all three of Thompson, Green, and Iggy to fit under the hardcap (due to a sign-and-trade) and depending where the cap ultimately ends up, it’s possible Livingston would need to be moved as well.

Or if you believe LeBron will pick up his option and Klay and Livingston (and Jordan Bell) will be traded and the Warriors will be willing to have a payroll $30+ million over the luxury tax, leading to a tax bill in excess of $110 million (this would be about $50 million more than they’re currently on pace to pay).

Anyway, it is not realistic to think that LeBron will end up in Golden State, because to do so would either be cost-prohibitive or make Golden State no longer look like Golden State.

Thank you for your post. TP.

That is literally almost close to impossible to that ever happening.

It doesn't matter what Cleveland wants, only what Lebron wants since he can just opt out of the final year of his contract and become a FA. CLE has absolutely no power in any Lebron negotiation other than them not willing to accept players/picks for him, in which case they end up with nothing.

So this makes the Golden State scenario even more likely.

How about we bet TP's on LeBron definitely not ending up on GSW? :)

At this point, I want to go through Lebron to breakthrough & win a title.  Not add him.

Would make it that much sweeter.

Can we even trade Kyrie back to Cleveland now? Iirc there was a rule that prevents a player from being traded back in a year. But I think Smart and Irving would match Bron's max.
Jaylen Brown for All-NBA

Very nicely done...great write up of why GSW may not be realistic...might I ask you to also speculate what you think the Celtics would have to do to bring Lebron to the team?

Meh. I'd rather beat him than have him join my team. It's called having pride. Great team doesn't mean you have the best player in the planet.

Signing Lebron means we are just supporting what is wrong with the league.

Hayward straight up.   Play Bron at PF.

Kyrie, Jaylen, Tatum, Bron, Horford.

And force him to, like, rebound? ::)

If I am LeBron I am headed to Boston with what the NBA and its refs did last night. I go to Boston because I know it will wipe off the smirks on the faces of those punks Curry and Green in GSW just to know that there is another team that will beat the smirk off their faces in an even match. I move to Boston because as the best basketball player in the world, I deserve to play for the best basketball organization in the world.

I am 100% in the same boat. Seeing Curry and Green mouthing off after getting away with yet another lucky break, seeing Green taunting Lebron at the free throw line etc...
I hate GSW way more than anything Lebron has ever done.
Of course just like Danny Ainge would be thinking first before anything:
Which player would give the Celtics the best opportunity to win multiple championships in the current NBA landscape?
Easy answer.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

I mean if i'm Lebron why not? this is THE year he proves what it looks like carrying a lottery team into the final and his own great performance.

So what is his goal? to pass the God, in order to do this he need to have at least 3 more ring
so why not join the best in the weak east, this will almost ensure 3, maybe even 5 rings before he retire and thats all people will talk about. all he needs to do is take the MLE and accept to come from the bench, its not like he has pride of any kind(join the Heat and Cavs to form big 3)
