Since the college basketball season began, there have been 4 guys who have legitimately been considered for the top pick - Ayton, Doncic, Bagley, and Porter. Because of injuries, Porter is probably out of the equation here, but it makes for a pretty tough decision if you are a GM. While Ayton is taking the lead for 'consensus #1', I don't necessarily think he is a certainty to become a superstar.

It may just be easier for some GMs to drop down a few spots, get a player they still want and pick up extra assets in the process (who doesn't want to be like Ainge?  )

Is this possible? I can't imagine the best player in the world can be traded to one of the worst teams in the league against his will.

Why would Lebron want to play for PHO? I think there are only a couple teams that he should consider, and BOS isn't one of them. SA, LAL, HOU, LAC, NYK, (with a revamped roster), PHI, and NOP. I think I'm being generous to some of these teams.

No it is not possible.  Lebron has a no trade clause.  He's also is a free agent unless he picks up his player option for next season, which he won't, and you can't trade free agents.

The Phoenix GM referred to trading it for an established young star not for a trade down scenario.  GMs are paid big bucks to make the tough decisions.  If a GM wants to trade the #1 pick because it is a tough decision, he ought to be fired on the spot.  Ainge certainly didn't do that.

It's an interesting question just for assessing current value though - ignoring salary rules etc would Kyrie land the #1 pick straight up? Probably not unless it was a weak draft and a wannabe contender had snagged #1.  Would Tatum? Not sure about Phoenix but it's very very plausible. Would Brown? Really hard to say with the seeming lower ceiling and one less year at rookie $.  Hayward?  Nope.  Rozier obviously would not do it straight up but has this run boosted him enough where he could be the featured player in a big package with multiple 1sts?  Seems unlikely but no longer utterly preposterous.

Ugh I hate tonsay this but dang we loss 2 all-stars due to injury and gained 3... I'd hate hate to do it becuase of team morale but dang do we really NEED Kyrie on our team or just out of our way? Trade his behind to the west since I really really don't believe Kyrie wants to still be here if Rozier is shinning like this. I BELIEVE Kyrie wants to go to a team where he can take over the shot attempts. Well we have scorers all over so I truly wonder how happy he really is . But if he wants a young team he can take over... suns it is. Was this not a team he was linked to anyway before he was traded here?

 Don't forget about Kawhi. I'm sure the Spurs would jump on that.

No, no it shouldn’t. No one is trading a #1 pick for a series of mid-range assets. Also, PHX is not going to trade the #1. They’ve been tanking for 3 years for this opportunity, view Ayton as a stud, and badly need a C. Maybe if we’re talking Towns they’d consider a trade. Otherwise, they’ll sit tight and pick.

I like Rozier a lot, but he is not a star. I think a lot of casual NBA fans were unaware of his game. Before the playoffs, Rozier was most known for being involved with the Louisville shenanigans.

He has played well for the last couple of weeks (and even during the regular season), but I think another GM needs to see more before a team is willing to trade valuable draft assets for him. He's a 7/10 at the deepest position in the NBA.

Am I wrong to think that Ayton/Doncic will be good, but not great?

Ayton looks like David Robinson, but doesn't play like him (esp. on defense).

I have no idea if Luka Doncic is Magic Johnson or Danilo Galinari. He may also be some crazy talented unique player that we haven't seen before (ie  Porzingis).

Bamba and Michael Porter are big question marks. One doesn't play much offense, and one has had back issues. Pass on both.

Trae Young will end up being worse than Malik Monk (a guy that didn't show a lot this year).

I like (not love) Jaren Jackson, Marvin Bagley, both Bridges, and Wendell Carter.

I look at this draft and don't see any First team All NBA players. I think Ayton, Bagley, and Doncic can make a bunch of all star games, but I'm not banking on it. From this standpoint, I'm fine trading Rozier and draft picks for a top pick in June.

In one playoff series, Brown and Tatum have gone from very promising young players to untouchable. I'd consider drafting Tatum/Brown 1/2 if they were in this draft.

Yea, that doesn't get you the top pick. I'm sure they want to trade for Rozier using pick #16 and another mid-range asset or two after using #1 to fill out the center position with either Ayton or Towns, but that's not the same as wanting Rozier at any cost.
