The Great Marcus Morris Debate!!!

When he was initially signed there was great debate as to whether or not Marcus Morris could defend Lebron James.  Some people claimed he was the premier Lebron stopper in the NBA, other people declared this notion to be a green-tinted flight of fancy.  Stats were given, arguments were made, and battle-lines were drawn.

In a few short days we will have the biggest question of the pre-season answered on the biggest stage possible.  Now the question is, are you ready?

Can he stop him? No. Now can he slow him down? Also No. Bigger question is can he stop taking contested mid range jumpers with a open 3 point shooter one pass away. No way in hell.

I know stats say he is one of the best "Lebron stoppers" out there, but I'm not buying it.

Sure, he can get physical with Lebron and might make him work a bit, but Lebron is still putting up his likely 25/10/10 numbers (at the least). We can hope to contain him (keep him under 40 points for example) but Lebron is just a whole different beast for us to handle.

That said, Morris NEEDS to shoot better and make better decisions.

If he has another series like the Philadelphia one, then we're doomed. As much emphasis is put on Morris's defense on Lebron, we're also going to need Morris to give us about 13-15 PPG off the bench consistently.

I wish CBS would tell him to stop chucking up so many fadeaways and iso-shots especially when they aren't falling. We need to maximize our potential on all possessions, and we just can't waste them on Morris missing fadeaways while someone else is WIDE open.. 

My BIGGEST FEAR is, Cleveland will go on a run, while the C's go down the other end and Morris jacks up iso-bricks allowing CLE to run away with games.

No one can stop Lebron.  The best we can hope for is to slow him down with our glut of wings, and Morris will be a big part of that (along with Brown, Tatum, Horford, and Semi).  If we don't have anyone that can at least make him work hard 1 on 1, we are screwed

I don't care about the comment.  Lebron was going to come at us whether Morris said it or not.

I think Morris can make LeBron work harder than Crowder did last season, and Morris has a better supporting cast to help restrict LeBron. I am not expecting miracles but I really hope Morris steps up and helps to make the Celtics competitive.

LeBron will be guarded by different players through the game. I think the most important thing is not stopping LeBron, but to close their 3-pt shot (Korver, JR, Love) and to keep our shooting percentage quite high. LeBron's gonna score his 30-35 pts this or that way. I think Brad's gonna focus more on other aspects of the game.
