If Philly really wanted to start playing 4d chess here, I'd worry about them going after Baynes.
People thinking the C's can re-sign Baynes for the $4m he's getting now forget that he opted out of $6.5m last year because he thought he could get more. Now having really demonstrated his value against Embiid, while adding a 3 point shot, the market for him probably has improved.
If Philly can't land one of the 3 big fish they're after (LeBron, PG13, Kawhi), I think it would make sense to throw that Amir Johnson type deal at Baynes. $10-11m for one year gets him out of Boston while helping Philly stay flexible with cap space for the next year. And there's definitely 20mpg in Philly backing up Embiid, while being a capable starter if Embiid gets hurt, and best of all it eliminates a great Embiid 1-on-1 defender from your competition.
