"No way in hell Brad Stevens doesn’t win Coach of the year. No disrespect to the other head coaches but He’s by far the best coach in the NBA"

bring IT back for 6th man off the bench? Lol if Stevens wants him to do that, IT maybe might respect it ?

Yes...Brad Stevens will win Coach of the Year, or else the award becomes permanently irrelevant.

Yes...I'd be open to bringing IT back if he were willing to play that role.  So few people appreciate the 6th man implications.  I wish they would look back at John Havlichek and how he prospered in the role.

Doubtful though that it will happen.

I know people don't like IT, but if T-Roz gets traded, I would like to see Isaiah Thomas come back on a team friendly deal.

How can we not love this guy?  Even after the blindsiding, he's extending high praise to the organization.

He's an American hero.  For the well-being of our next generation, I hope his story is included in History textbooks.

I'd prefer he retire, take care of that hip, and pursue a career in politics.  No offense to Marty Walsh, but he should be elected mayor of Boston as soon as possible.

Finally, he more than deserves a small statuette in front of TD Garden.  And we, as committed fans to the team, ought to offer to pay for it.

Has anyone ( except folks on this board, myself included) ever said anything negative about Stevens? This guy has to be the most liked coach in the league.

I love IT.

Doubt we will bring him back, though.  Will be hard enough to cover for Kyrie on D.

And D will be our DNA for winning titles.

Contrary to popular opinion, the COTY award isn't given to "the best coach in the NBA". It's given to the coach that had the strongest performance in one given year. Often (though not necessarily always) that's defined as the coach that outdoes team expectations by the most.

He probably isn't winning this year, so y'all may already start rehearsing your righteous outrage.

If Casey wins the award over Stevens, then the award is a joke.

I hope the team takes this out on the court tonight and shows out for Stevens.

Stevens easily had the strongest performance this year. We somehow got better after each major injury, even a strong winning streak including road wins over playoff teams without most of our starters to close the season.

After the first major injury, he was saddled with a team that was similar in talent to the one we had last year (if not better, because Tatum), and was on track for a record that was comparable with the one last year. He's not getting COTY for going 9-6 in 15 games without Irving on the tail end of the season.

It's ok though. You can be a great coach without being COTY.

You mean the 19 year old playing like a star due his system?

9 and 6 with a starting lineup of Horford, Baynes, Rozier, Tatum and Brown with your best bench player as Marcus Morris is elite. That's a 60% win rate. There are only 6 teams in the entire NBA that have won at that percentage.

Pop won 47 games over the course of a full season with a lineup that featured Aldridge, Kyle Anderson, 37-year-old Pau Gasol, and Dejounte Murray. Every starter not named LaMarcus averaged 21-26 mpg and scored 10 or fewer ppg. His "scoring punch" off the bench was Patty Mills and off-of-achilles-surgery Rudy Gay. Sure, having the calcified remains of Ginobili and Parker is a great luxury, but this team had no business outside of the lottery.

And that's juts one example of a deserving candidate. My personal choice would be Quin Snyder, who went pretty far on the back of a 13th-overall-pick rookie. Sure, Brad will get votes, as he should. But I don't think he's a frontrunner this year.

You mean the 19 year old playing like a star due his system?
So I'm confused now, is Tatum a greatly talented player who should be getting ROY consideration, or just a fortunate product of Brad's system?
