76ers fans think Tatum is already better than Hayward

Tatum is having far more playoff moments that's for sure but Hayward was never given a chance to. Regular season we saw Hayward try to lead his team and be the focus of opponents' defenses we have yet to see Tatum in that nightly position. Hayward doesnt have the length of Tatum but I believe he is still better handling the ball, off the ball and shooting. Tatum could be better next year.

Next season will be a challenge.  I can't imagine Tatum moving back to the bench after these playoffs, but the logjam is real.

Both Tatum and Hayward started opening game this season together. What has happened that would change that?

Nothing.  I don’t really see either of them coming off the bench, especially not Hayward considering his seniority and being in his prime.

I did have a weird thought last night. What if the Cs brought Hayward off the bench like the Spurs did with Ginobli a few years ago?

I don't think Tatum or Brown are wired to be a good off-the-bench guys, at least not yet. Doing this would allow you to start big with Irving-Brown-Tatum-Horford-Baynes, or replace Baynes with a more versatile defensive-minded guy like Ojeleye or Smart in certain matchups.

Hayward gets to run the offense against bench units with Rozier and Brown (Brown's minutes overlap with Hayward). Then he finishes the game as the Cs go small with Irving-Brown-Tatum-Hayward-Horford.

Don’t forget Baynes.  He is a big part of our defense when the other team has a big strong center.  Horford is good but he is not stopping a big strong center on a nightly basis.  Baynes will be needed or someone like him.

I didn't include Baynes because I wasn't sure how they could afford him since I don't think they have his Bird rights. Maybe MLE?  But I agree they will need a big C on the team like Baynes.

Someone obviously hasn't seen much of Hayward. Hayward is a good defender, yes, better than Tatum on that end as well. It's become a misnomer to just a label Hayward as another white guy that doesn't play D.

People seem to forget that Hayward averaged the following during last year's playoffs against the Clippers (a team that consisted of CP3, Blake, Jordan, Redick) and Warriors. Good teams with good defenders that were scheming to try to stop Hayward as Utah's first option.
